With Lantlôs one of the most cryptic bands from the fields of Post-Black Metal is making its debut for Prophecy. After their highly acclaimed 2008 debut album, their sophomore ".neon" is due to be released soon.

In six psychotically gaudy sound studies, Lantlôs unfold a misty array of lost sounds and forlorn words, a depressive manifesto of contemporary Post-Black Metal. As barely any other band before them, Lantlôs manage to conjure the disturbing feeling of being cut off from the world, and they do so by employing grey walls of sound full of madness, desperation, and hopelessness. Caustic and furious, hazy and dragging, and with the psychedelic playfulness of Post Rock, Lantlôs set to music abstract perceptions such as a flight from reality or the search for support in surreal deliriums.

Their music could be compared to the French pioneers of Post-Black Metal, Amesoeurs and Alcest. Hence it’s no wonder that Neige, musician with both these groups, contributes his heart-wrenching screams to the sound of Lantlôs. Moreover, his band-mate Fursy is responsible for the album’s excellent artwork. Sublime, tragic, desolate ... ".neon" is a musical painting, as surreal as depressive, as elegiac as grey. After their highly acclaimed 2008 debut album, young Post-Black Metal band Lantlôs are making their debut for Prophecy with ".neon", a musical setting of abstract perceptions such as a flight from reality or the search for support in surreal deliriums. With the release of DARK WORLD BURDEN, modern heavy metal band PAINSIDE is preparing to unleash on the world its unique blend of dark, yet melodic thrash metal. For those that don’t know (and, up until about 2 weeks ago I was one of you), Painside is a straight up, no bullshit metal band who’s sound is very reminiscent of bands like Metal Church mixed with some Iron Maiden or Judas Priest. Before you make a decision based on those comparisons though, take into consideration that I’m talking about elements of their sound. I’m not saying they are a clone band in any way. As you listen to their DARK WORLD BURDEN, you can’t help but hear the comparisons though. Listening to songs like “The Deviant” as an example, you can’t help but think of some of the faster material from the first three Metal Church albums, tempered nicely by a chorus where vocalist Guilherme Sevens sounds somewhat similar to Bruce Dickinson. In fact, that Dickinson reference comes up throughout the disc. Songs like “This Dark World” find Sevens singing in a lower register with a deep European slant, before unloading into a loud chorus that could easily be mistaken for the higher end yell of Dickinson himself if you didn’t know what you were listening to. Simply put, Guilherme Sevens is an astounding metal vocalist that simply sounds great.

Az Epidemis Records két régóta várt kiadványa (A Thy Catafalque Tűnő Iső Tárlata és a A Serenity Rose című album a Woodland Choir-tól) augusztus 8-án érkezik. Reméltük, hogy hamarabb megjelennek, de ez a legújabb dátum a kiadótól. The two expected Hungarian releases on Epidemie Records - Thy Catafalque – Tűnő Idő Tárlat & Woodland Choir – Serenity Rise - have been postponed until 8th of August. "Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings" is a compilation of rare value – not only because of the fact that this is one of the few conceptual compilations that are based around a central theme and where the choice of artists present was subjected to a rigid selection. No, "Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings" is a two-CD collection with a playing time of over 100 minutes that unites all the main players and the most promising newcomers of a nameless genre that is defined by (mostly) acoustic musical settings of nature's sceneries and impressions, or of personal sentiments mirrored in nature. This profound respect and a deeply romantic magical and mystical perception of nature are the common denominator of all the featured artists and the thematic foundation of their contributions. The fact that nearly all of the songs included here are either exclusive to this project or rare tracks that aren't otherwise available anymore serves to emphasize the extraordinary character of this release.
One of the highlights on "Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings" is certainly Empyrium's contribution – the ensemble's first new recording in four years and the impressive beginning of a new creative period. Also featured are the genre's founding fathers, Ulver, with a very rare recording from 1997: their track 'Synen' was only featured on a very limited underground compilation and is probably the Norwegians' most sought-after song. The contributions by bands such as October Falls, Nest, or Neun Welten – artists who have forged the genre's identity in the last ten years and have become major points of reference for lovers of dark, nature-attuned acoustic music – or by as-yet unknown quantities such as the British project Nhor or Syven from Finland are also delivering the goods and certainly bear comparison with the genre's founding fathers. The enchanting cover artwork courtesy of Fursy Teyssier (Les Discrets) tops off a release that, because of its musical content, is certainly going to remain a unique and unrivalled audio document for a long time.

Refresh the Demon is the best of the experimental Annihilator albums (KotK-Remains) though by the end of the day, it’s generally unremarkable. It is important; however, as the album to establish the ‘modern’ Annihilator sound. Taking the better, heavier elements from the King of the Kill album, Waters re-established the base Annihilator sound, and it is from this album that many of the later albums’ recycled riffs would spring from, as opposed to say the Never Neverland album.

It’s doomy, gloomy, depressive type stuff with big, booming and slow riffs, low growls and quite a moving sense of melody and song structuring that lends a nice bleak soundscape to the whole thing. Bilocate have slowed down into a relaxed groove that is both pleasant and oppressive; a nice contrast.

“Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings” is a compilation of rare value – not only because of the fact that this is one of the few conceptual compilations that are based around a central theme and where the choice of artists present was subjected to a rigid selection. No, “Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings” is a two-CD collection with a playing time of over 100 minutes that unites all the main players and the most promising newcomers of a nameless genre that is defined by (mostly) acoustic musical settings of nature’s sceneries and impressions, or of personal sentiments mirrored in nature. This profound respect and a deeply romantic magical and mystical perception of nature are the common denominator of all the featured artists and the thematic foundation of their contributions. The fact that nearly all of the songs included here are either exclusive to this project or rare tracks that aren’t otherwise available anymore serves to emphasize the extraordinary character of this release.
One of the highlights on “Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings” is certainly Empyrium’s contribution – the ensemble’s first new recording in four years and the impressive beginning of a new creative period. Also featured are the genre’s founding fathers, Ulver, with a very rare recording from 1997: their track ‘Synen’ was only featured on a very limited underground compilation and is probably the Norwegians’ most sought-after song. The contributions by bands such as October Falls, Nest, or Neun Welten – artists who have forged the genre’s identity in the last ten years and have become major points of reference for lovers of dark, nature-attuned acoustic music – or by as-yet unknown quantities such as the British project Nhor or Syven from Finland are also delivering the goods and certainly bear comparison with the genre’s founding fathers. The enchanting cover artwork courtesy of Fursy Teyssier (Les Discrets) tops off a release that, because of its musical content, is certainly going to remain a unique and unrivalled audio document for a long time.
