Let's all replay Final Fantasy 7.

Gonna derail things slightly just to ask this.... anyone used to play Chocobo Racing? The kart racing game?

It's still one of my all-time favorite games and play it often with friends. Forget crash team racing; Chocobo racing, despite looking more childish, boasted a very interesting and powerful story if examined, and the characters are pretty damn dynamic with 5 statistics all with 20 different levels.

No need to be all br00talz now, just admit its awesome!

FF7 is actually for me the best game ever, I think I played it 3 or 4 times. I love the story, that still keeps some mistery. Characters are all really interesting, and there are some parts in the progression that are really epic as fuck (Sephiroth flashback, Canyon Cosmos, When Cloud reads in his past, etc).

No one mentionned the others ? I had a bad memory of FF8 but when I played it again a few years ago, I really felt it was a good one too. I played the VI too but didn't finish it.

Didn't like FFX so much. Did not play the XI because I don't have time right now and it didn't appeal me like the others.

I have played other JRPGs too, but FF7 really is my favourite.

One bad thing about it is that they finished it quite hastely, there are some strangeness at some times, Square said they didn't have time to implement everything, there had to be more story explanation etc but they had to finish it so they dropped many things. A lot of things seem useless and may have been designed first to be used somewhere.

There was a trend at a time thinking square was preparing FFVII-2, and they made the movie which I just hated so much. I don't feel FFVII ambiance in it. Also, I think FFVII-2 is the most attended hypothetical game ever, and whenever they make it, they HAVE to make it good, which I doubt is possible because it's hard to create again an alchemy so many years after. They have studied it and I'm sure they still do, it would be such a big event.

Musically speaking, Uematsu's work in FFVII is incredible. There are so many musics that I cried to !

They made FF7: Crisis Core for the psp ( great game, I mean GREAT), FF7 tactics and several chocobo related games after the original.

What I miss is a good rehab on the original for a big console like the ps3, and with the technical trailer they made for the ps3, those rumours were a lot louder.

Speaking of Final Fantasy Tactics, that game ROCKED pretty awesomely. Sure the gameplay got a bit overshadowed when Disgaea came about, but there is something about the story, the atmosphere and music that really ties it all together as a great experience. Gonna stress that it's really good music.

I've spent hours today reading a new french site that is quite new (2007). It's a fan that has spent 4 years of his life devoted to the creation of the uber-ultimate guide. And he actually did it, I think I can say there is EVERYTHING on his site. Even if I know the game by heart I've discovered so many things there. Too bad it's not in english, but he said he planned on translating it. It's http://ff7.fr

I'm on the road for work, so I don't have FF7 available atm, but i do have an SNES emulator on my laptop with every game ever released. I may fire up Chrono Trigger tonight, as I've never played it.

Playing through it for the first time (just got Cloud his dress :D) - using the fucking d-pad is killing me (no analog stick functionality, at least in the downloadable PSN version  ), but otherwise I'm really diggin' it so far! (I love the sci-fi setting, fantasy is gay :D)

Marcus, the music in that city is awesome
imagine fiaj doing a really dubbed out cover of that with delay and reverb pingponging abotu everywhere
WITH SAXOPHONE

Haha, yeah, you posted that earlier in this thread actually :D Can't say I'm too crazy about it, loathing reggae as I do, but its oddness and sorta atonality is its saving grace (I guess that's what dub is all about). And yeah, a FIJA cover would be most triumphant :D

My God this needs to happen. But I'm pretty thrilled for the PS3 FF that's coming out eventually.
