Let's all replay Final Fantasy 7.

Just beat it, and while I definitely really enjoyed it, there were some quips I had with loose ends in the plot, namely (SPOILERS BELOW):

- If Nibelheim did indeed burn down (and that wasn't a dream/illusion/whatever), then what's the deal with it being there and all the residents seemingly oblivious?
- If I understand it correctly, 7 years before the game Cloud left to join Soldier, failed, and became a grunt - then 2 years later (5 before the game) the Nibelheim massacre occurred. What the hell did he do in the interim?
- Also, I'm still not entirely certain about the whole Jenova/Sephiroth/Cloud thing, and how they relate to one another - I guess every time we see him before the end it's actually either a big gooey malformed alien thing (Jenova) or an ex-member of SOLDIER (those cloaked dudes) somehow taking on his form and being controlled by him? Seems a little thin to me (and also, why did Elena think Cloud killed Tseng?)
- Cait Sith - is he a sentient robot with free will that just reports to Reeve, or is he simply remote controlled by Reeve? I'm guessing the former, but it's a little unclear (and if it were the latter, pretty much all emotional impact from his "self-sacrifice" in the Temple of the Ancients is gone)

I'm sure there are others, but these were the big ones that kinda bugged me - still, I'm sure on repeated playthroughs I'll be able to far more appreciate all the game and story's strengths, mainly once I know what to expect.

And while I'm waiting for one of the countless FFVII maniacs here to respond to my questions, another would be whether Dirge of Cerberus is any good? (Gamespot's review is less-than-favorable)

Well going by my last post on the previous page, I'm gonna say around 11-12 days - a decently long time, but then again, the playtime clock was right around 40 hours, which when divided by 12 equates to me really needing a job

Spoilers :

For what i think i understood :
- it was rebuilt and shinra put its employees in the town so that the event is never known
- cloud being a simple soldier killed the actual original sephiroth in the reactor after he beat zack. But he was also deadly injured. Ive read the answer is in Dirge Of Cerberus so i will write at the end of my post.
- same but im less sure
- dunno for cait sith

Spoiler dirge of cerberus (not sure at all cause i didnt play it)
- cloud after he killed sephiroth "no1" and zack were taken by Turks and were used as experiments. They put jenova cells in them. Zack escaped taking cloud with him. That may explain the interim.
- lucretia + hojo + jenova cells (implemented by hojo) = sephiroth so he is somewhat jenovas baby. Shinra made sephiroth the super soldier and therefore created clones. Cloud is not a clone, at least notlike the others but by the cell implant.

This is still not 100% clear !

ok ok ok

one thing i've never understood...is if the game is FINAL fantasy, how in the hell can there be like 12 of them???

Pretty cool dude - I have to admit, though, I don't think Cid's theme translates that well to a slow sorta melancholy ballad like this, and you left out the second part, which is just as good if not better :waah: Also, there's this weird sorta "doing"-y drum that I hear coming in every now and then (there's one at 0:46). FF7 covers are always awesome though! :kickass: And speaking of which, have you heard this one? If not, prepare to shit EVERYWHERE :D

Oh man, I'm totally trancing out to this

That beat is infectious :Smokin::Smokin::Smokin:

Ahaha Marcus. Yeah, actually, this is NOT cid's theme. Cid's theme is based on the same melody, but as you know, more epic. This one is actually one of the game's musics too. But cid's them is in my plan on doing it too ! Actually, I have selected 7 or 8 of my favourite pieces from FFVII and I'm remixing all of them my way :)

I'm currently finishing "Auron's theme" (FFX character). His theme is epic as fuck and translates well with guitars ! I'm just having troubles finding good bass/drum to add.

The link you gave me is awesome ! What a tremendous medley !

And yeah, the chocobo race ending music is trancy as possible ! And the strange thing in my mp3 is that I run Garritan Orchestra presets, and in one of them there are percussions playing along with cellos, so each time a cello hits the right note it hits too aha. Will remove it.

I'm in FFVII recording trance

HOLY SHIT dude, Auron's theme would be incredible, he's such an awesome, badass-yet-noble character, and his theme is kinda under the radar since it doesn't occur more than a handful of times in the game and isn't on the official soundtrack release (I listened to it in the Sphere Theater in Luca in the game). Looking forward to hearing it man!

The last Final Fantasy game I liked was 3 on supernintendo. I tried FF7 on PS1, but I couldnt get into it at all. Even FF3 was pushing it. I love RPGs, but I am one of the few that cant stand the FF Series. I loved Oblivion though.
I cant wait to play the new RPG called Dragon Age. I would prob be into the FF series again if they returned to medieval type stuff and dropped the japanese popstar with all sorts of machines with lazers thing. It just got out of control I thought. All the stupid haircuts and swords the size of texas. I know im prob alone on this one. Im not trying to change anyones mind, we all like different shit. I just prefer medieval stuff for those type of games.
Btw, I first started playing RPGs on the orig nintendo with FF 1 & 2 and the Dragon Warrior Series. :Spin:

Back home for Thanksgiving, loaded the thing on my brothers PSP and have been playing. 2 hours in and I've just finished running from the Turks when you first meet them + Aeris in the church. Soooo many memories while playing this!
