So this band, "Let's Get It", came out with their debut ep this summer, and it sounds pretty good. Songwise, I don't think anybody on here will like it, but in terms of sound, it's pretty well done. The guitars have a pretty nice tone for as poppy as it is, and the drums sound great too. The programming is what I really dig though, with it mixed in very well.
So does anyone know who recorded this album?
I know Sturgis was involved a little somehow, but I don't think he did the whole thing. But if anyone knows what plug ins are being used for the pianos and synths and stuff, please speak up!

Ex members of The cut scene/Words as weapons.
From Dayton, OH
Joey and the guitar player tyler are best friends and work together on the lets get it records.

Really?
It just doesn't sound like joey to me, and not just because it's so poppy. But if it is, then good for him, it sounds amazing.
Anyone know what he used for the pianos?

yeah i did everything on this one
people think i have limits, i really dont
throw me something, i'll make it happen
i can do much more than just "scenecore" bull shit

we used all kinds of shit to make this album possible, and took a really really long time technically
the actual final tracks were put together from "previous versions" over the period of a week, and the vocals were all re-tracked at night
the previous versions were sessions of the same songs, just older recordings, recorded over several studio sessions (probably a month al together)

when it came time to do the real thing, it was a major overhaul

we retracked a lot of things, re-programmed everything, and re-did basically everything we had done
then added more

when we reached the end of the time slot we weren't done, so we rushed to finish late at night while my day sessions continued

then i had to rush the edits and the mix, but we got it done on time (which was the most important thing to the band and the label)

if you want to hear a quick mix by me, listen to this ep

but honestly, these songs just sound the way they are by having everything off and hitting play, i build them that way.

pianos:
steinway b, a few samples per key
ie: garritan personal orchestra

i dont recommend this piano, it's hard to work with
there's a lot of inserts + eq on it

you must have downloaded the cd
im pretty sure the credits specifically say

"produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by joey sturgis"
"programming by joey sturgis"

we used a lot of plugins to make the album, some of which were plugins on top of plugins, bounced, then more plugins, and on and on

i can't remember everything, but we did use some re-occuring ones a lot:

refx vanguard
stylus rmx
garritan personal orchestra
edirol orchestral
cubase sx stock vst's (a1, monologue, embracer)

Well I'm suprised it's a quick mix, because it came out fantastic. I didn't think that it wasn't you because of the style of music, but just because of how it sounds. Compared to your other mixes, the bass is more prominent, and the programmed is not where it usually sits in your stuff. But I guess you just approach different styles differently. The vocals too are done really well, and the sound is a little different from what you normally do (disregarding the style). Would you mind sharing what your vocal chain was like?

Yeah I don't have a physical copy, but I was trying to find everywhere who was behind it, and couldn't anywhere.

And it always amazes me how much you can use a simple little plug in like vangaurd on so much material, but you do make it sound good.

That's a shame, because it's one of my favorite piano sounds. On some other records you've done I'm not a huge fan of the piano, but this one is great. It's tough to find a really nice piano plug in though, I've been searching for awhile and haven't been able to find one I really like.

the band asked for more bass, so thats what i gave them

a lot of bands ask to sound like something else i've done, so i hate it when people are like, "this sounds like something else you did" because the band wanted it that way!

anyways, i try to approach every band differently. at the same time, lets get it is me and tyler's dream project so, we try and give it our all. i approach the mixing seperately for each song because they're so radically different, track wise. the vocals are courtesy of joe, he's great in the studio. lots of style and vibe. there's alot of editing too, so with those two combined, you've got awesome vocals.

the vocal chain was a 1176 emulation on my uad card. we tracked with an AT4040

i just turn every knob all the way up and use a ratio of 20:1
