Lets Say you were making a 2 cd Opeth compilation

Leaving Damnation tracks off except if space provided.

About 2 songs per each of the rest of their cds.

Which songs would you choose? Has anyone done this? 160 minutes is alot but then again so many good long songs.

I am doing this partly to have a cool travel cd but also to help turn others onto Opeth.

I would be curious about what others would put on the cds.

I love Damnation don't get me wrong. I just think there are enough mellow portions within normal Opeth songs to cover that aspect of their amazing music. Plus, we are working within 2 80 minute cds in my case so time constraints. I am trying 2 songs per cd including the new one. Heck, I love Orchid but I might end up with only one song from it. I could easily pick 3 from some of the cds but trying to get to 2.


I know the old, let them borrow a cd but I want to let someone hear a variety of their material not just one cd. This is also being used as travel music if I go on a road trip.

I have actually done this already to try and get a friend into Opeth. A couple things, though: (1) I think I've broken some of tattoedsean666's rules, and (2) All flame-throwing aside, I didn't put anything on from Orchid or Morningrise because of the production (remember, this was solely to get some one into the band)...of course I constantly kick myself in the ass for not putting on TTIMR, TAIT, and TBYF.
