Lets talk about preamps

I want to know what the ideal approach is for matching up preamps with various instruments and mics.

I would like to have a setup where I can have my go to preamps that are always configured for usage with specific instruments.

What are some recommended professional sounding preamps for the following applications:

Distorted Guitars
Clean Guitars
Bass
Kick
Snare
Toms
Overheads
Room Mics or spot mics for various cymbols
Vocals

I'd like to hear things like:

A Focurite Red 8 for Split Pair Overheads.

Or an Avalon VT-737sp for Vocals or Guitars.

API 3124+ for Toms

etc.

Doesn't have to be the most expensive, but good enough to use on a professional recording.

Distorted Guitars: Chandler Germanium Pre
Clean Guitars: Chandler Germanium, or UA 610
Bass: Avalon U5, or Millenia DI
Kick: API 512, or Trident S20
Snare: API 512, or Trident S20
Toms: API 3124+
Overheads: API 3124+, or Portico

everything else varies too much to even suggest a 'go-to' pre for it...
