last Powerfest was right before my last class ended (exam crunch time) This was the reason why I missed both Pagan Fest in Detroit and the Kickoff Party for Powerfest. which was the 4th. It was Welding so I didn't mind.
Only thing is now my first semester starts and ends later that it did last year (after labor day) as will probably be my second semester. So right now I have no clue
hopefully I either have classes that end early or that they won't be scheduled where Powerfest proves to be a problem. So have it on Friday and Saturday and I'll be able to do it.

Maybe Primordial will be part of the Powerfest bill this year. According to Blabbermouth they will be doing 24 US dates starting in May. That would be cool if that package was perhaps the Thursday night festivities for the 2009 version of Powerfest.

as long as the pre-powerfest date is announced the same time as Powerfest so I can hit all of the days, cause i'll be booking my flights as soon as I find out when it is

Probably safer to have 2nd or third weekend in May, as most colleges run through the middle to end of the second week of May for classes with Finals, depending on the class. I know that affected my decision not to go this year too.
