LINKS TO "DISCONNECTED" AND "MIRROR'S TRUTH"

uh just to clear up and confusion (there appears to be a lot here) this not melodic death metal. these songs are pretty awful, especially lyrically. i mean if im not mistaken anders is saying " i feel like shit....blah blah" - ok whats with the emo lyrics? and damn the guitar is so uninspiring. this cannot be the same band that wrote zombie inc and embody the invisible and jotun

what's the point in even posting this? furthermore, what's the point of posting in the forum of a band whose current music you don't even like?

You know, I'm going to buy their album...so I really don't care!
By stolen I mean it would seem you have taken credit for the song...it now seems to be your song. You haven taken their song, and made it yours. By this I mean that to the casual observer, you have stolen their song.

Ok, your opinion on IF's new stuff is well established. Thus, kindly shut the fuck up. If you had anything constructive to say, that would be one thing. But there's no reason to post just to hate...if you had liked CC, but hated this, that would be one thing. But you hate it all. We already knew what you thought of it. So...shut up.

Because he likes their old stuff. But he shouldn't be posting in this thread.

The Mirror's Truth is a pretty good song, disconnected is ok, but not great.

I think their new album will be realy good, melodic death metal or not,i don't care, all i want is good music. :)

well there is good reason to post about the new music - i mean your reply is reason enough isnt it? haha

no, see, the band just really bothers me now with what they have turned into. there is such a thing as loyalty in life - and it is certainly relavent in music. it is an established fact that the band changed their sound completely and turned their backs on their original old-school core fan base. this is a proven fact the band has acknowledged with statements like "we shifted the melodies from the guitars to the vocals." that sentence right there by anders is enough to make any old school in flames fan want to puke. this band used to once be on top of the world but ever since rtr came out they have become much more money oriented and trendy and mainstream in their song writing. the sad part is that all the new in flames fans like yourself keep saying stuff like "oh the band has just evolved" "the band has just changed because theyre older blah blah blah" and you clearly have no idea what loyalty is all about. i dont know who your favorite band is but i think you would be pretty bitter if they blatently sold out the mainstream and changed their sound to become more popular. right? right.

I have been an In Flames fan for as long as I can remember and you speak of loyalty like it's a one way street. Where is your loyalty to In Flames? You turn your back on them just because the writing changes (and do you expect it to stay the same for 20 years?) but you speak of THEM being unloyal to YOU? If you don't like the new stuff that's cool, but when you start blabbing out nonsense like that then I feel the need to say something.

I am an old school In Flames fan and I will say the band has evolved, to better or worse depending on your personal tastes, but how can you say that just because they feel like doing something else after almost 10 years that THEY are being unloyal? They are older now. They have families to support and if they do write a bit more on the trend side to make some more money and appeal to more people then that's fine. You expect them to do and play exactly what you want no matter what it would do to their personal lives? Nice concept of loyalty you have. A lot of you complain about new In Flames because you have no concept of what it's like to be in a touring band. You sit in your room on a computer and complain about a band not playing what you want to hear. It's ridiculous. I know nothing anyone can say will open your eyes as it's something you have to do on your own and I'll probably get flamed for this because that's all it seems you kids know how to do. In Flames is a great band and has accomplished so much and after all this time they are still pumping out good material. You people should have at least a little respect for that.
:bah:

no because the difference is that the band is providing a service which i pay for. i pay my money that i earn from a job i have when i buy their albums or concert tickets. all of us do. that should be respected and acknowledged. so i have no reason to be loyal to the band if they change their style and say "go to hell" to a core fan base. i am not "friends" with the band so my loyalties dont go any further than the service which they provide to me. there is nothing on a personal level which makes me "loyal" to the band.

the old school fans once prided themselves in the underground knowing and believing in a band like in flames. if they had stayed true to their roots they would have easily ended up at the level of a band like Slayer. They have families, too, and they make more than enough to get by - and although new slayer is much worse than earlier slayer, they have not compromised their sound - they have stayed true to their roots. thats one of the reasons why theyre so respected in the metal world - because they are living proof that an underground act can survive and thrive and be successful staying in the underground. in flames is clearly talented enough to have reached this level. they are extremely talented no question. but bands don't have to jump on trends to be successful. if they stopped to think of it for a second, they have no business being in metal bands in the first place if they want fame and fortune. there is a level that they can reach - again look at slayer -a very popular widely known underground band but clearly not at the popularity level as, say, metallica. it's just greed and ego if a metal band thinks they're going to be rich and famous because metallica is pretty much the only band that actually at one point played straight up thrash metal that is now at the popularity level they have reached. yes megadeth and slayer are successful and popular but not nearly as close to metallica. metallica sold the fuck out, too - that much is clear. you see bands toy with it all the time - machine head was an amazing up and coming band back in the demo days - and their debut is an ass kicking record. then they decided to make a rap metal album to get rich and they lose any credibility that they had with fans who know the whole story. megadeth did it too with Risk. horrible attempt as selling out. its funny because things backfire and then bands decide to be "metal" again and they think no one will remember the past. its like the john mccain of heavy metal. trying to please everyone and thinking or hoping people dont remember the past. it happens all the time in music. i suggest you open your eyes a bit more and come to grips with reality before you start to question my loyalties...

I think you're a fucking moron.

I'm not going to bother dissecting your ridiculous arguments. I could barely make myself read them. You're an idiot. I'm not interested in your opinion.

im not going write some "in flames hate post" here, all im going to say is that these two songs sound just like come clarity, i cant get myself to be excited over these songs, every song is 3 minutes something, starts out hard, screaming vocals over the verses, then a mellower chorus with some clean singing/screams. nothing new, this is how it was on STYE and CC. bit of a bore.

i am not "friends" with the band so my loyalties dont go any further than the service which they provide to me. there is nothing on a personal level which makes me "loyal" to the band.

bands aren't really a service industry, they are an entertainment industry, you want a service? then go buy a fucking hamburger, if a band isn't entertaining to you anymore stop crying and get over it there's nothing you can do about it

if they had stayed true to their roots they would have easily ended up at the level of a band like Slayer

who the fuck wants to release the same album over and over again for 20 years, slayer just need to quit

Band's aren't an industry at all. It's not like a store where you get to expect something for your money.
They release something. You buy it. Caveat fucking Emptor.
Considering how easy it is to hear samples or download entire albums on the internet, if you buy something you don't like you have no one to blame but yourself.

Very boooring songs, nothing they havent done before, not very good by their standards also ... come on In Flames, grow a pair of balls and innovate a little.

If In Flames continiued to compose same music over and over again after Whoracle or The Jester Race or whatever, I'd hate them.

Been an In Flames listener for over 9 years now, I enjoyed both songs.

I got into In Flames with The Jester Race and Colony and guess what? I love R2R....And still like the new albums....Not everyone hates them...

Slayer hasn't been good since 1990....God hates us all was decent cuz it was different...Christ Illusion sounds like a watered down tired seasons in the abyss...Just awful....I certaintly like what In Flames are doing in there late career then what slayer have done in the past 18.

ANd everyone complaining about loyalty go jerk off to dark tranquillity with character/fiction....and talk on there board how they never sold out..but got tired and boring....yay! Fiction sounds like the last 4 dt albums..They need a makeover quick....DD was the last good thing they put out.

You fuckers get too far in depth about this. Can't you people not like the new material but still like the band.. It's not about being loyal, it's about listening to the music that you think sounds good.. some people tend to forget this.
