Thats right, what are some good live albums(not dvds)?
Any genre or band will do, I'm mostly into melodic death, thrash, and black metal, but anything would be good. I'm looking for good albums in terms of production, musical content, and just the general feel of a live show.
I realize the "no particular genre" could make it a little hazy, but I'll give anything a try atleast once.

Emperor - Emperial Live Ceremony
Hypocrisy - Destroys Wacken
Opeth - The Roundhouse Tapes
Slayer - Decade of Aggression

DVDS:

Melodic Death:
Amon Amarth - Wrath Of The Norsemen
5 full concerts, well-shot, great sound, great performances, great crowds, great setlists, very varied. Plus a mini-documentary.
In Flames - Used And Abused: In Live We Trust
3 full shows; one at the Hammersmith Odeon :)kickass:), 2 at a small club; one of these is a full performance of the album Soundtrack To Your Escape :)erk:). The other is them ripping through a bunch of old classics :)kickass:).

Thrash Metal:
Metallica - Cliff 'Em All
Bootlegg, show from the nosebleed section. Old stuff from the puppets tour and before, including Cliff's first gig.
Megadeth - Rude Awakening
Well shot, incredible performace. Small venue. The cameramen are kind of obnoxious - they come right on stage with the band. Set covers all the classics.

Black Metal:
Emperor - Emperial Live Ceremony
Excellent set in a small venue. Very good. Good sound + camerawork.

Other:
Iron Maiden - Rock In Rio, Live After Death, Death On The Road, The Early Days
All amazing DVDs with excellent concerts, sound, performances, etc. Also, bonus features are all top notch, especially with the Early Days DVD.
Queensryche - Operation: Livecrime
Excellent performance, great album, great crowd.

CDs:
Kreator - Live Kreation - amazing, career spanning set, played incredibly in front of an excellent crowd. If you like thrash at all, own this.
Metallica - S&M - mostly interesting for the symphonic element, but worth picking up if you like Load/Reload.
In Flames - The Tokyo Showdown - Excellent set, not a perfect setlist, but good live album. From the Clayman tour, so none of the new crap.
Iron Maiden - Live After Death, Death On The Road, Rock In Rio, etc...
All good.

Thanks alot guys! I've seen/heard some of them, and will be checking out the ones i haven't seen/heard very, very soon.

Hammerfall - One Crimson Night
Alice in Chains - Unplugged

and most of In Flames' gig bootlegs are good, not just the live album (search for Live In Seoul Korea, or Live at Gothenburg)

The crown triple DVD set is pretty sweet.
Candlemass - Documents of Doom
Candlemass - Live (informally known as Chapter 5)
Deicide - When Satan Rules (Live)
