As for the Plymouth scene, I clearly need to check some of the West Country talent out
Living in Londinium, as I do, I have a variety of shit to choose from, although my personal choice would be Needleye. Fear Factory style industrial/death hybrid, plus the guys are safe as fuck. Oh, and the new album has Adrian Erlandson on drums. Still have to find out how they swung that....
Oh, and when I still lived with the parents- Onedice- Bristol band, prematurely broke up after one (awesome) album. Anyone else know them? Dave Malpass, where are you?
nosvrolok - these dudes are alright, although they wear their own merchandise and look silly live
thornlord - i guess the only thing notable about them is they have a former drummer from exhumed
ritual havoc - not great but they only used red lights at the show i saw so it was cool
there's also a throwback black metal band called devil's mark whose drummer is a badass and whose guitarist shouldn't wear a tight-fitting black robe onstage or anywhere but in the privacy of his own home.
there are a few other sort-of-metal bands and of course a ton of SOAD clone / nu metal / bands
