Hey guys! Got a question for ya....

Are there any websites you go to or frequent when trying to find out about shows around Chicago...or for any entertainment around Chicago for that matter?

Or...do you just get all your show info primarily from newspapers or the Illinois Entertainer, The Reader, Midwest Beat, etc?

Yeah, you guessed it...we're looking for some more potential advertising opps... ;)

I try my hardest to ignore the Whale board, its possibly the worst message board on the web. I seriously cannot think of one worse than that.

Chicago Metal Factory
http://www.thecmf.com/

Chicago Suburban Nightlife
http://www.nitelife.org/

http://www.midwestmetalmagazine.com

I would try to get tickets to the Chicago Tribune, one of their new music corespondents did a pretty decent article on the new Slayer disc so they know their metal. I forgot which guy did the review but I would get him out to the show, to at least possibly review it.

Rob,

You should try to contact Tom Lounges and see if you can get some love in his Friday music column in the local Northwest Indiana paper, in Midwest Beat, or on his Sunday night radio show on WXRQ.

I spoke to him either last year or two years ago and he told me he would not give publicity to anything at one of Vince Kelley's locations (which I thought was highly unprofessional) but perhaps with the new location and Vince-less venue, he might give some space to it.

If you'd like, I can try to drop him a note, too.

Thanks guys!! Much appreciated! We had one of our people (yup...believe it or not, we have "people" ) already email Tom Louges & I just emailed the Reader.

Good calls! And if anyone else thinks of any others, please let us know.

Also, for those of you who said that your ideas were already mentioned, please still let us know which you think would be best...treat this thread almost as a survey. I wanna know everyone's opinion.

Thanks!!!

Just for the record, I also think you and Chris should tattoo "Chicago" and "Powerfest" on your asses and then base jump from the top of the Sears Tower. Just think of the publicity on the evening news!!

Ken

For the Chicagoland area, it's all about the Reader and Illinois Entertainer, as far as print media goes. I think there is also that free rag called Suburban Weekly, though I am not sure how viewed it is by the target audience for Powerfest.

Alright, since this is being taken kind of as a vote as well, then I will go with the Illinois Enertainer and The Chicago Metal Factory. For this area you can find just about any metal show that's going on between those two.

Cool...by the sound of it, it looks like if we have IE, CMF, the Reader & Midwest Beat, then that should about cover it.

We already have IE & CMF covered, & are working on getting both TR & MB.

Thanks!
