ICED EARTH CONFIRMED FOR CHICAGO POWERFEST 2008

Well, then there's a very good chance that you may actually like 1/2 of the remaining bands for Friday. As I said, one of the bands has a keyboardist. ;)

Announcement will most likely be made about mid-day.

Well thats what I like to hear. Like I said to Chris in a pm Rob, you are guys are making a dream of mine come true to see Iced Earth with Matt. Iced Earth is my all time fav band and is my all time fav singer. As gay as it might sound I might cry when they are playing for I get to meet Matt and Jon. I have already considered naming one of future kids Barlow or at least my cat when I get around to getting one .

You never saw IE with Barlow?
It wasn't THAT long ago....
(Well, I guess if you just got into IE, then maybe you never did).

It will be cool indeed.
Ripper did a fine job fronting IE, but no comparison to Barlow.

I got into them in between SWTWC and Horror Show, but I was a sophmore in high school at that point and my parents didnt let me travel for concerts and shit I wasnt allowed to go to a concert til I was 17.

WIN!

We are big fans of Lenie's Berry Weise, though that is good for straight drinking (IE - too sweet to have with food, IMHO).

Last night I had for the first time SAM ADAMS WHITE.
Pretty good...

oh new a seasonal from Sam sweet. I love Belgian style beers always rich in taste and not bitey like a hops.

this isn't directed to you Ian but........
goddammit....the lineup is SOLID from top to bottom, there is not,
nor will there ever be any band on this festival that does not deserve
to be here, or placed where they are!!! just because you may only like
or think you will only like a few bands does not mean the lineup isn't solid
nor does it mean that in a festive environment, you may actually have
your preconceived opinions (for those who don't even give a band a
chance from the start) re-directed and learn that you may actually like
a band outside of your normal listening. to think for a minute that you
will like most of the bands on ANY festival and to say something isn't a
festival because you don't is fucking ludicrous!

the reason this is a FESTIVAL is because is crosses over into many
different areas of metal and gives many different fans the opportunity to
discover new bands, rediscover bands that may have fallen out of favor or
maybe just an opportunity to get out of the house, have some fun and check
out a variety of music in a live setting whether all of it is your cup of tea or
not...for a very reasonable price, which is the point!

it continually amazes me and really frosts my ass to watch a select few,
that have no clue about the industry or the scene, constantly try to
disparage us and insinuate that we have no fucking idea what the
hell we're doing.

this is the last i will be saying on any of this shit as well, the lineup and
the attendance will speak for itself.

Well Chris I know you said it wasnt directed at me but I will address it. I think my initial statement was mistyped (thank you beer). I should have said that what I am picturing in my head isnt solid for the bands that havent been announced yet. Other than The Autumn Offering I am FUCKING STOKED TO BE COMING TO POWERFEST!!!

Testament - a legend and a must see for every thrash metal fan at least once. Not overly familar but I know some songs

Darkane - I got all their albums and loved them when they opened for Fear Factory and cant wait to see a longer set.

Suidakra - I have a few albums but I got them at times when I received like 15 promos at once so they got lost in the shuffle. Their most recent came out at a good time and I am very intrigued to see them play.

Chaoswave - I downloaded a single track a few years ago and I remeber liking it quite a bit.

Iced Earth - Matt nuff said

Paganfest - TOTALLY FUCKING SOLID TOP TO BOTTOM!!!! Look for me with a beer in the air the entire evening cheerzing an imaginary Odin. Turisas is going to own that night "From Holmgard and Beyond" has become one of fav tracks recently.

Amen! Blue Moon with a slice of Orange does the trick EVERY time! :headbang:

Now I am REALLY thirsty!

I have actually been getting away from Blue Moon lately and trying other belgium style beers that arent so heavy on the coriander. I just got sick of the taste since it was my beer of choice for like 2 years.

actually lots of us do know about how the industry and scene works....that is the issue.
