i've heard alot of tech death bands, but when it comes to prog death i haven't heard much. i guess i'm looking for something with shorter songs and gets straight to the point instead of something really epic. Symbyosis and Cryopsis both come to mind.

Atheist
Augury
Cynic
Death (Human era and on)
Kronos
Opeth (Orchid and Morningrise, though not short songs)
Sentenced-North From Here
Lykathea Aflame (Again not short songs)
Martyr (though more on the tech side)
Nocturnus-The Key

Not all are progressive, but some of those might do you a little good.

thanks guys, i've heard some of the bands you recommended me but i liked the stuff i haven't heard. Augury is my favorite so far.

Progressive is such a vague term. Maybe try Pavor. They are also tech death, as they are as technical as fuck, but they are also somewhat progressive with their highly unusual sound and free form stylings.

Pavor are awesome! Furioso is an amazing example of what I like to call experimental meandering death metal. Their song structures on that album are very "wandery" and never seem to get climactic...rather, the whole track is a lot of different interesting phrases...check em.

ALSO, "Triton (The Light Guide)" by Symbyosis (off Crisis) is AMAZING.
