Lucid Dreams...

Wow thanks guys, I am gonna try this tonight! Would you suggest doing it with music, or complete silence? Or does it matter at all?

I can't say I have had one of these, but one morning about a week ago i woke up and looked at the clock and it said 10:16 then i layed my head back down. WIthough having gone back to sleep (or remember having done so) I looked back up at the clock and it said 12:24. over 2 hours elapsed without me even being aware. very strange, didnt think much of it though.

Lucid dreaming is very interesting...sometimes, time is ticking a lot different than in the real life. I had experienced (can I say "alien") presence like being in another dimension, touching entirely different universe of culture...it was very strange and painful...maybe it was a nightmare, maybe it was astral trip of the soul...just like some esoteric people say that its real.

This intrigues me a lot.
But will i have the patience to try it?
probably not.....

check the lucid dreaming faq

When i first read about this, i practised getting into the mindset of it and had a few lucid dreams. You have to regularly do a 'reality check' and then before you go to bed, think about it abit, and when you get up, try and remember and write down what you dreampt.
The hardest thing i found that was when you realise that your lucid, the excitment of it will wake you from your dream, you have to stay relaxed and not try to force the dream to much.

lucid dreaming is sweet!

reminds me, not long ago i had a dream. I cant remeber exactly what happened in it, it wasnt any way out stuff, but whatever happened wasnt good. Then i 'woke up' in my dream and thought phew, that was only a dream. Then a bit after I actually woke up for real, hehe.

This is interesting reading....
Sometimes when I'm dreaming I can see everything
really clearly and I KNOW I am dreaming.
"Oh, I'm dreaming again....this could be fun."
Everything that happens after I realize I'm dreaming
are things that I remember. It's like I lie there
watching me in a film or something, and I'm thinking
(while I'm dreaming) "Why the hell does all this
happen to me?"

The next time this happens I'll try to control my
dreams, but it might wake me up, because there's
such a thin line between being awake and sleeping
when I KNOW I'm dreaming.....

I used to have lucid dreams as a child. I've heard that it is not very uncommon for children. They also remember their dreams with less effort.

Well, anyway, I did have lucid nightmares, and that wasn't too pleasant. Knowing you're dreaming, but still running from strange crap (don't take that literally), and not being in control. I realised that by causing myself pain in the dream, I could wake up. So I kinda banged my head in a wall to wake up (a dream-wall, that is).

Lucid dreams can be quite cool when you control them yourself, though

It kinda sounds scary... Especially the nightmare part..
Does this stuff affect the reality-dreaming relationship in your head, does it confuse you in terms of what's real and what's not?
Is there possibility for someone, who really gets into this, to go nuts?

I think that's an interesting question you're bringing up.
I used to have trouble separating my dreams from
reality. It's definitely not a good feeling not knowing
what happened, and what didn't. It got better when I
started to pay more attention to my dreams though :o)
But all you people who seem to know more about lucid
dreaming; what's your view on this? :o)

I guess it could drive you crazy.... But only if you totally lost control, and forgot what was reality...

But if that happened, it wouldn't be a lucid dream.

i always remember my dreams, i just say to myself three times before i go to sleep "i will remember", this results in me waking up after every dream, at which point i remember it clearly, then i write it down in my dream journal, otherwise i forget, its possible to have about 6 totally seperate dreams per night, or even more, i think most people have lucid dreams fequently but they just forget
if you're good at lucid dreaming try astral projection, i have been for some time, its absolutely better than drugs, the only word i can use to describe it is euphoria, i like to fly ;)

how far you got oyo? hehe even the first time i felt the vibrations i was amazed, experienced them on my first attempt, took me months before i finally got out though, its strange but i was always very conscious of my breathing and i didint want to give control of it up, and it hindered me in my attempt to get out, but once did get out it was amazing, a warmth descended over me, i felt more joy than i had ever experienced, i had never felt such pure emotion, it didnt last long, i soon snapped back into my body, still havent gotten outside my room yet, and because i'm so close to my body my vision is very poor but i'm getting there, it takes a lot of time but keep at it, you will get out. You heard any demons yet? hehe some nasty lil suckers about

I actually got vibrations over ten times, I got out ONCE. I didn't know I was out until I went back in though
Once you get the vibrations, hold it for a few seconds and you're there, but it's so hard to keep concentrating when they start. I actually haven't been trying in months, I tend to stay up until I can no longer move, then I collapse onto the bed and fall asleep, I really should go to bed earlier and try..

same with me i tend to stay up till like 5am by which point theres no point of trying, i heard a good time to try it is in the morning after you've slept, but i can never do it that way, i can only do it in pure darkness, its when my sub-conscious is most active and easier to order around , can you see around when you're out? my vision is pretty awful but i can see to some degree, hey seeing anything with your eyes shut is pretty amazing , its best to explore familiar places when you're out for the first few times, reassuring and less likely to run into nasty things, i havent seen them but i've heard them once or twice, they exist at the lower levels, once you get good you can raise your level or vibrational state and they cant follow

i was going to mention this but i'm too lazy....

heh... 3 is the magic number ;)

if you're good at lucid dreaming and astral projection you can try dreams magic like making people dream about you (same as lucid dreaming but in someone else's dream)

I actually saw perfectly, but I didn't go anywhere. What happened was, I had been sleeping, and I awoke with the vibrations in progress. I was quick enough to start concentrating on my breathing instead of getting surprised and losing it. Like 30 seconds later I felt myself drop 10 feet down, and slowly float back up. I sat up and had no clothes on or covers, I said, damn I lost it , and layed back down. I got up a few seconds later and I had covers and clothes on. I must have been out, but I didn't realize it
