Been hearing about them a bit lately...

Anybody got any experience with them? Details if ya got `em.

They were the big to do on the HCAF for the last month or so, until all the shit hit the fan. Apparently, they are advertised as being made in the USA (in Colorado), but it was shown that they were made in China with cheap parts and whatnot. Madison is sticking to the story that they are made in the USA, and only 40 were made overseas.

Also, there were documented photos where the PCB's said Made in China or something and electrical tape was used to hold some wires or pieces together or something.

All this was reported by a well respected tech who had recieved a Madison in his shop to do some mods to it. When he opened it up, he discovered these things. Along with what I wrote above, he also said it was basically a shoddy copy of a Marshall TSL's schematic, but they made a pretty funny mistake which caused the amp to hum pretty bad. Madison said that changing the circuit to stop the hum affected the tone in a bad way, but this tech fixed it and said it didn't.

A bunch of he said she said if you ask me...If the cheap parts last the long haul and sound good, however, more power to those who dig them.

If Hope Dies and 7 Inches of Blood are both using them.

Yeah, but I'll have it be known that the new If Hope Dies was recorded with a 5150 through a 1960AV and a Dual Rectifier through a Genz-Benz, and it sounds fucking amazing.

The Madison's just strike me as a joke.

thanks for the info :kickass: ... I was just about to ask if anyone knew what guitar gear they used on their latest album. it really sounds amazing!

I replaced my old Crate 4x12 with all madison speakers and in a Live situation......you can't tell much of a difference between it and Celestion. But, recorded may be a totally different story!:erk:

That's too bad, then. I've never heard their recorded work, but saw them on their latest tour with Demiricous (our hometown heroes) and their live tone sucked ass, IMHO of course.

i know rock solid amps was carrying for a short time, and recently decided to stop...the clips i heard sounded good, but i've heard some things regarding the build quality that would have skeptical of paying more than $500 for one

Wellllll, fuck those things then... lol. Thanks guys... was just wondering what the word on em was.

I have a Madison Divinity and I like it. I prefer my 5150, but the Divinity is a cool amp. It's clearer and tighter sounding than the 5150, and it has less gain. It's not the be all end all of high gain amps, but it has some good tones in it, and the clean channel is very good. I will post some comparison clips in a week or so when I am home.

i just used a madison on the new autumn offering along with my old 5150. i used it for the 2 of the 4 main rhythm tracks. rhythm wise it wont replace my 5150 but it complimented it well for sure. sounded fantastic for leads. check out the record if you wanna hear what they sound like for leads.

I heard that they sound really tight with low gain; Some really talented dead metal bands I know are endorsed by Madison, and they sound amazing live!

Another important part of the Madison story is that after the drama explosion occurred where the respectable member of the forum posted the gut shots (with electrical tape) and found what was causing the hum and the loud pop with the channel switching (additionally one of the controls on the front was completely disconnected) one of the Madison agents / PR / employees pretty much started talking a ton of negative things about the respected forumite and was saying that he was making up problems. After that he pretty much started saying how other amp manufacturers are shit and how their amps breakdown and how they never said that the amps were made in the USA (despite the fact that they have that tagline on their site). One of the Madison dealers (he does ENGL, Framus, Splawn, couple other companies) dropped the brand after all of this stuff was brought out into the open. Then one of the Madison higher up fellows came on there and posted a big page long explanation. In his post he pretty much justified the "Made In China" part by saying only a couple are sent there, told everyone that if you're not a gigging musician you should be using a Peavey Rage combo and not his amps, talked a bunch of shit about the respected forumite, and a couple of other things.

Backlash hit people started eBaying / dumping their Madisons and everyone pretty much started flaming the brand heavily.

The first 40 were made in China, but after that, it's USA made with Chinese parts.

The guy from Madison told a couple guys I know to 'fuck off' when they e-mailed him with some questions regarding what was posted by the 'respected tech' (and yeah, that 'respected tech' is an awesome guy).

Yeah, Madison appears to be about as well run as Krank. Their business practices seem to be a complete joke. I got the Divinity used for a pretty cheap price, and I ended up actually liking it, so I'm keeping it for the time being. I just hope it isn't as unreliable as some are claiming it to be.
