Magic: The Gathering

Magic never caught my interest, I used to collect pokemon cards though and didn't learn how to play it until years after it was no longer popular.

HA, thats cool. Magic is actually a little more mature than that and requires a good amount of thought, but i understand the general lack of enthusiasum toward card games so its whatever.....

As I said. Used to be. Until fourth, maybe fifth edition. Then pish made for 10 year old kids, in which the kid with the most money always wins. There are absurdly strong cards that should NEVER have existed. In the past it was waaay more well balanced. That allowed for strategy. Not anymore.

Idk, i find that if you're playing a person with these absurdly powerful cards and you also have your own it'd even it out. I play with my friends and at out local comic/game shop. I'm pretty good, theres a few people at the shop with decks made of pretty much all old cards who can beat my ass down and in my deck...well i dont discriminate.lol. I've got an array of all time periods of cards. The most powerful/dickish card in my deck is called "Mind Funeral" it makes the opponet put cards from thier deck into thier graveyard until four land cards are revealed, with the intent of winning the game via deck out.lol.

The game isn't supposed to be an overpowered boring god-match.

Magic is a very fun game. Downside? It's extremely commercialized. I'm not fond of it enough to devote my time and money to it. I conveniently have a friend who does, so we play when we meet.

Every edition has its fun moments, but I agree that the early 4 editions were the raw awesome. After that they started coming up with a bit too many bizarre ideas and recycling cards too often. Still fun though.

Dude...waterfront bouncer?!? Alexi zephir mage?!? Fuckin CAPSIZE?!? You must be kidding me. Magic went cool when they invented the sliver.

The rath cycle still is amazing. Minus Nemesis... that one wasn't 'bad' but was beginning to show signs of decline. The bastardization of foil cards, for example. Now for example, portal predates the rath cycle and it's utter shit.

6th edition onwards, however... :erk:

I think its retarded that people automatically think any Caucasian individual who is interested in anime or anything that is considered "nerdy" or "geeky" takes part in cosplay or looks like the stereotypical geek. Its like people thinking everyone who listens to metal is a violent blue collared worker who barely graduated high school........oh wait.

Actually, I've found in my own experience, that most people who listen to metal are nerdy and geeky regardless of their heritage. Doesn't bother me.. Much.

I suck at Magic. I blame the crummy deck. Also, I didn't learn until everyone else already fucking rawked at the game. =\

It's a cool game, though.

Anybody who says the art on these cards is not manly, or continues to say Magic is nerdy after this, is a goddamn nig-nog. I love Magic... started at Onslaught, but stopped recently cause the new sets have been getting gay. I prefer the old-old-old cards though.

I still have my massive amounts of cards  Never was that great at deckbuilding but I was more focused on fun decks anyways. Won my fair share of games.
