Making your guitar tracks sound bigger sticky vanished?

You need a guitar tone that "breaths"

Get the tone and put a mic in the correct spot. Take a long time finding the spot, once you are farmiliar with it you will find it quicker each time

I don't think you need much else really

The Black album was weeks to months getting the tones and they were so behind the schedule that i think Hollier Than Thou was mixed in hours. Sounds huge because it already sounded huge.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the best heavy tones are recorded that way

No worries dude I probably didn't read your post properly

My tip is a high pass between 60 - 80

If it needs brightness give it lots of 8k, as much as 6 db if you have (I learnt that years ago from a Chris Lord Alge interview)

Buss all rhthym guitars and limit or compress them just a little. Adjust the attack to let some transient through

Boost around 100-120 if you want more note definition

If it's too bright use a high shelf and not a bell eq

bell eq to take out nasty fequencies, shelves to do more general tone shaping

Also try and get as close as you can with eq on the buss instead of each track separate.

For years I tried to use every plugin I had, and these days I use almost nothing and my mixes improved heaps
