Huh. I'm reading stuff now that casts the Michael Savage thing in a somewhat different light. So the phone call wasn't real?
I mean, I still think he sounds like a dick, but it's interesting how the only part of that story that filtered through into popular culture was the "Host tells gay caller to get AIDS and die" part. I honestly thought about the caller and how HE must have felt a lot, and that part of the story--which was central to my understanding of it--turns out not to be true?
There IS a liberal media bias--denying it just gives the conservatives REAL ammunition (for once). Even CNN.com tends to be liberally biased EXCEPT that it tends to be slavishly deferential to the President (which is not really an ideological bias, but rather a reverence of authority).
Liberal media bias is counterbalanced, however, by conservative bias on talk radio and right-wing pundits and commentators. Second-tier media like that, when added to the conservative networks like Fox News, mean that there are plenty of biased resources on both sides. In the end, it's important to get a story from a lot of sources and know that there IS bias, so you know how much credence to give a story.
