They played yesterday in Paris with Mourning Beloveth (+Ataraxie+Inborn Suffuring , local bands) , it was amazing..

They played El Otro (10x greater in live , don't ask me why), Storm (I think) , Recklessness , To See Saturn Fall (!!) and the last song from their demo.Great presence , very friendly , the singer/keyboardist was even surprised when I asked him to sign my booklet :loco:

The crowd , which didn't come for them , was like :OMG: . They got a great sound yet they weren't allowed to do a soundcheck .The piano parts were coupled with sober lights on the color tone of the artwork and when they were heavy THEY WERE HEAVY . The greatest moment of the show was obvisouly To See Saturn Fall , the passage at 4:38 where eveythings seems to fall (haha!) was perfectly done (very good drummer) , and the crescendo just gave you goosebumps.I can't get enough of Mar de Grises :dopey:

Pics to come ..

I think the RC crew was quite unanimous ranking this one pretty high in their 2004 soundchecks.

No one who likes their music dark, insane, progressive and unpredictable should live without this album within five inches of their sound system!

On a side note, their countrymates Poema Arcanvs are another insider tip of sorts. I like the way both bands use similar shades on their artworks, it feels like some tiny "Chilean doom scene"-thing is going on :Spin:

The sole review up on MA is pretty glowing. Or maybe I'll wait for Doomcifer's final judgement.

Doomcifer already passed judgement, and we followed like lambs to the slaughter. :kickass:

It was #8 in our overall top 10 list of 2004. [It appeared in 3 top 10 lists (myself, BWD, and Erik) plus it got a special mention from One Inch Nad].

I shared it with Zod but he didn't like it because he doesn't like doom, even though he voted for MDB over Slough Feg. :loco: [/bitter fokker]

I rarely listen to any album, and they're ALL good! :loco:

No but really, I was just thinking this morning, life would be SO much easier if I only liked (and focused on) 2 metal genres.

Right now, I'm going from Brocas Helm to Aeternus (man, I forgot how great "White Realm" is) and everything in between.

I admit it: I am a metal junkie and I can't get the monkey off my back.

:kickass: i'm totally at that point right now. every time i think about getting a black metal, power metal, death metal, etc. album i think to myself 'self, how much black metal, etc. do you have right now, and how much do you listen to' and then i refrain. shit even stoner, at this point i just plain have enough.

what do i want from metal over this next year? meshuggah, and then maybe a handful of cd-r replacements, that's about it.

Yeah, sure I'm already at that point! I'm talking about sifting through the EXISTING archives!! It is daunting, and yet somewhat satisfying in the gay way.

I went through my CD collection the other day, deciding to trim some fat, and I picked out maybe 5 CDs. Honestly, my collection right now is looking A1 good.

We should have the Messhugah promo - get it from Josh.

This was my "most anticipated" list from our top 10 feature:

HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE
THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG
JUDAS PRIEST
NOKTURNAL MORTUM
NOVEMBERS DOOM
PRIMORDIAL
DRUDKH
SUMMONING
BRUCE DICKINSON
WOLVERINE

So far, this list hasn't changed one iota. I'll be buying that entire list (if not bought already).

Maybe I am subconsciously emulating Keeley's tastes, 'cause this part of the list, I will 100% surely be owning or own already!! Of the other 3, the new Priest sounds good but not great, haven't heard Dickenson or Wolverine.

the problem (for lack of a better term) with my collection is that i have so much sentimental value in there, the only stuff I can get rid of easily are albums i've only listened to once or twice and have no recollection of what they sound like. at this point the only albums i have like that are ones i just haven't gotten around to (like tenhi - kauan).

My stomach fucking leaped when I read that, I shit you not. You have NO idea how much I've fallen completely in love with that band over the past month. :kickass:

Oh yeah add Hammers to the list of albums i want to get this year, maybe opeth if they have one as well.

Yeah but will it be released this year? I know how these Big Super Starz take forever to mix and market such things. :loco:

Mar De Grises rule, theirs is one of the most mature and fully realized debuts I've heard in along time, can't wait to see how they progress from it. And I'll probably buy everything that hasn't been taken care of already in JK's most anticipated list (except Priest, duh.)

I am totally at this point as well. Every time I think of going back and buying a band's back catalogue, I always ask myself if I really need and if I would even listen to it. Plus, with my job loss, every purchase has to be super-duper fucking essential.

Other than Belenos - L'ancien Temps, all I will buy are 2005 releases that I'm anticipating:

Mayhemic Truth - In Memoriam (re-release)
Nachtfalke
Spiritual Beggars
Summoning
Unsane
Suidakra
Nile
Nokturnal Mortum
Rudra
Hate Forest
Drudkh
Pelican
