Friday I drank too much and missed Drawn and Quartered. I already saw most of the bands that played that day.
Morpheus Descends was up close and there was way too much bass. They played a varied set and the new songs from the anthology sound good. Theyre working on a new album
Blood Red Throne a pleasant surprise as I was taking a break to get food but they sounded great and I ended up watching their whole set
Vulcano and Bulldozer were both entertaining but Im not really familiar with either band.
Triptykon the ultra-slow versions of Celtic Frost songs dont really work. I saw Celtic Frost on the Monotheist tour and the Triptykon set was weak in comparison. It was cool that they played Messiah
Arcturus watched a few songs but that band is lame. I left to get a nice spot for Razor
Razor killed. This was the only band that had good sound that I was up front for. Most of their set was from Evil Invaders
Prosanctus Inferi I was up front and again too much bass
Masacre FROM SOUTH AMERICA
Primordial their set went by too fast. Id love to see them play a headlining set. Ive seen them twice but they didnt play anything from A Journeys End either time
Winter not sure if the sun bearing down on me caused me to not get into it or if they were just boring
Skepticism I think the guitarist was suffering from heat exhaustion or something as he fucked up a few times during their set. This band should have played inside
Demilich sounded like shit the first two songs I was up close but when I moved back everything sounded a lot clearer. They nail the vocals live and I really wasnt expecting that. I forgot to look behind me to see how big the crowd was as Im always curious of the contrast of internet hype vs reality for this band.
Amorphis I had to skip so I can kvlt at Rams Head for Thantifaxath / Impetuous Ritual / Knelt Rote / Portal
I got a spot at the railing on the balcony and for all 4 bands the overall sound was the best for the entire fest. I loved how none of the bands that night said a single word to the crowd. All music no bullshit. Portal was playing past the curfew and got the power cut while they were playing Werships but they continued playing for a few minutes with the lights on and only the bass and drums audible.
Merch was a disappointment as it seemed like a bunch of generic shit you can get online. I have way too many shirts as it is.

FYI Amorphis played Tales in its entirety during their set. Not an opportunity worth missing. Plus I saw Thantifaxath in Chicago last week, and Portal played over an hour after Amorphis' set ended, so I got to see 'em all.
