Match EQ plugin

Hey guys, I have 4 songs recorded, 2 were recorded with a schecter with EMG and the others with a ibanez with seymour duncan distortion. These 4 songs will be on a EP. At first I didnt pay much attention because I was thinking in doing a slightly different tone for each guitar but the thing as you know, it´s when you change the tone, the snare will be also slightly different, the vocals, the bass e.t.c So this is not what I am looking for.

Anyway, I know that ozone have one, and also voxengo but what you guys recomend?

Ozone is the one people seem to like. Did you record DIs?

I got the DI´s, it should be applied on di´s to be more effective? I mean before something else?

If you got the DI's then you can reamp them with the same tone

Yeah I'd try just using the same amp for all of them and seeing what happens. The difference the two guitars make shouldn't be THAT huge.

I'm pretty sure Voxengo only uses 64 different different points for matching, where ozone does ALOT more (I believe). Ozone is more annoying but more effective imo.

Nuno, I'd try dialing in the tone with one of the 2 guitars, then see how it translates to the other one in the mix, and then make adjustments on the amp(sim) before fiddling around with eq matching.

Not saying it can't work, but I think you'd might get a more even sounding tone if you try to get there with "less".

If you, for example feel like one guitar has a boost in the low mids compared to the other, try a wide slight scoop on the DI's or the reamped tone, see if it evens that out.

If your playing was consistent and the guitar doesn't totally alter the pick attack, you should be able to get there.

Of course you can also try to match eq it, for what I think ozone would do the job pretty well

Mago, probably I will try first to tweak the tones as you said before jumping to the tone match.

The pickups doesnt sound so different, they have a quite similar metal tone. The seymour duncan SH 6 has more mids than the EMG 81 and also a bit more fizzyness.

BTW here it a rough clip without the intent to match them, I was only tweaking the guitars for a good tone. The first it´s the EMG 81 and second the SH 6

Thanks for the sugestions guys, if I need to use match eq I will probably look at ozone.

Dude, both of those tones absolutely destroy! I think you'd be fine with them the way they are, personally!
