I just cant get over the fact that still they only get a 1000 pounds monthly wage.....no wonder Peter left......i wouldn't be able to survive on that kindda money either.....good for them they did some heavy touring and the album sold alright...but still 1000 pounds a month...thats really crappy....PEAC EOUT

"No wonder Peter left"? What about Mendez, Per and Axe? Give me a damn break. Mike said something about Peter pursuing his education.
Besides, just like you said, they toured pretty heavily to support Ghost Reveries so unless I'm mistaken, they made some nice cash besides this 1000 pounds a month. Now they'll probably tour their asses off to support this new album and make some more cash. It's not like this 1000 pounds a month is their entire income forever.

I mis spoke and I apologize to anyone i offended.......i know Peter left mainly coz he wanted to pursue education.....either way.....i didn't mean what I said really.....PEAC EOUT

Isn't that like $5,000 each?

That's not bad. You can live off of that pretty decently and you get paid to do what they do. For a death metal band, I'd say that's pretty fucking good.

depends on taxes i guess. US only has to pay like, what, something like 15% or less of their wages. some places got to pay something absolutely ridiculous like >30%

Mikael did an interview recently and said that...maybe on ultimate-guitar.com? I'm not sure of the exact interview but I know there's a thread about it here in the last couple pages.

I think all sins is right here, thats just a basic flat rate income. I'm sure they make much more than that off of merchandise/ticket sales/album sales/etc...
I hope they are making the absolute most they can, Opeth has made the most amazing music from day one and deserves every bit of it. But really, its none of our business.

In Sweden, around 30% is actually the lowest income tax. They higher your salary, the higher the income tax. Actually, you pay 30% up to a certain amount of your income, and in steps more and more percentage for more and more income. It goes up to 55% if you have a high enough salary (yes, it's insane that the government gets more money than you from your pay raise if you get one and at the same time are above that certain amount in salary).

In Italy richer people actually pay less taxes. Thanks mr. Berlusconi.
