Megadeth - "Endgame"...the review.

I was away on vacation, but thanks to some buddies and my daughter's laptop, I was able to score this album on Tuesday. I've only heard it twice but it kicks ass. My initial feeling is that it will rival TSHF as my favorite by them since CTE. Broderick is an animal!!!

We also scored new Lynch Mob right before I left, which may be the best album I've heard this year. I love it.

when does the physical form of the lynch mob album come out? i thought it was sept in europe and october in america but no website(cdnow, cduniverse) even list a pre order for it yet.
i liked the last george lynch project souls of we

5 john fogerty- blue ridge ranger rides again
6 heaven and hell- the devil you know
7 stryper- murder by pride

That is correct, at least for now. 9/18, and 10/13 for the US.

The cd I had topping the list so far was the Mastodon. Honestly, other than the Queensryche to a much lesser extent, nothing else has gotten me too excited. The Megadeth album will be top 5, and I'm expecting Slayer and Kiss to join the party as well. The Lynch Mob is soo friggin' catchy.

I downloaded the new Lynch Mob, Jorn and a couple other albums from the Frontiers iPool, haven't heard any of them. I have heard from people that the Lynch Mob album is a stinker, we'll see...

the 2 new lynch mob tunes i heard were great. it will take a miracle for someone to knock thr black crowes off the top spot though. these guys are on fire right now. i listened to 90% of the new megadeth and its not even better than the cheap trick album so most they will be is number 3 on my list

I have intentionally not listened to anything off the new Megadeth. I want to wait as I have for the last couple of Mustaine's albums pick them up on release date and break them during the work day... I'm not impressed with the Black Crowes, I simply don't get them anymore. I liked the brothers' acoustic album...I'll have to listen to the Lynch Mob this weekend.

the black crowes are now digging a deep soul in the 1968-1972 rolling stones sound with some of the mercury era rod stewart. i guess its too countryish for you.

have you heard the new cheap trick?

I love some country. I'm just not diggin' The Black Crowes. I rather listen to a Hank Sr., Waylon or David Allan Coe album than The Black Crowes... I love The Stones through the early 70's too by the way.

Lost interest in Cheap Trick years ago. I'm sure it's got some good tracks on there but I'm not remotely curious at this point.

if you throw in johnny cash, willie nelson, kris kristofferson, hank sr and hank III, shooter jennings, blackhawk, travis tritt, george jones, kenny rogers and a little dolly parton thats almost every country artist i like

anyways cheap trick have never let me down

i'd rank the best of 2009 as:

I'm with you on this. This is an awesome record....so soulful, moving! Just awesome.

My other 2009 favs, to date:
Riverside - Anno Domini High Definition
Steven Wilson - Insurgentes
Joe Bonamassa - The Ballad of John Henry
My dying Bride - For Lies I Sire

looking forward to:
Porcupine Tree
Katatonia
Alice In Chains
Pearl Jam
Immortal
Shining

From the first two songs they put out I was expecting to be disappointed.

After one listen through the whole album my preconceptions were blown out of the water with a nuclear bomb. It's awesome! Fantastic! I'm so pleased...

That's what I wanted to hear. An opinion not only from a metalhead but a thrash expert. I think most in here agree with you, we're are in awe at what Megadave accomplished after all this years.

I really like it, but I think it's a tad stale. It's a more complete album than UA but I think UA was more fun. Sort of like Hellfire vs. Rocket Ride. In the latter example, Hellfire is a better album but I would rather listen to Rocket Ride. Same goes for recent Deth.

I get your point, but in my case I do find the new album not only better but catchier. In anycase I can't wait for Sept. 15 :headbang:

Ha ha, I would never call myslef an expert, but thank you! Thrash is definitely my specialist niche... I think Megadeth have always done thrash differently from everyone else. They've always had a trademark sound which no-one else has ever emulated, whereas Metallica's sound was copied fairly succesfully by a lot of bands... Megadeth's riffs are just 'bouncier' if that makes sense, and there's always been more colour to the music...

I'd say this new one is totally Megadeth, with more aggression than anything since the early 90s (Rust or Countdown). Only one ballad, and it's a pretty good one (certainly not another 1000 Times Goodbye, damn that song sucks). Had the first track playing as I walked to work today and just felt that rush of exhileration and adrenalin that good, fast, heavy metal should give you! And the production is fresh, Sneap has outdone himself this time and given us something just a little bit different from his trademark production...

By the way, this may not be strictly on topic but fans of old school thrash bands should really check out the new Forbidden song Adapt or Die which is now up on their myspace:

http://www.myspace.com/forbidden__evil

It's their first new stuff in 11 years and I love it... really looking forward to Forbidden doing a full-length album and saving the world

The topic had diverged a bit already :D, but that's the way UMOS work ;). Thanks for the link, I'm surely appreciate new Forbidden material.

I just ordered my copy from Amazon. It's already available in stores locally, but it'll save like $8-9 ordering online and waiting :D
