Megadeth's new album is called Super Collider

To me, Super Collider sounds like a successor to Countdown To Extinction. If you don't like Countdown or Youthanasia, then you probably won't like this one.

If you only like speed metal Megadeth then you're better off waiting to see what they do on the next release.

Youthanasia maybe, but don;t insult Countdown to Extinction like this. I relate this more to Cryptic Writings, except it at least had 4 thrash songs compared to the maybe 2 on this garbage

Gotta love Mustaine

Now mind you I don't approve of the homophobic slur part, but the rest is funny.

From Blabbermouth:

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine used a homophobic slur and had a fan ejected from the band's concert last night (Wednesday, June 5) in Manchester, England in an incident that was captured on video.

According to online reports, MEGADETH was dealing with technical and lighting issues during the early part of its set at the Academy and was forced to go off stage for about 10 minutes after the sixth song, "Architecture Of Aggression", while the problems were being fixed. When the band returned, a angry fan was apparently booing Mustaine and flipping off the MEGADETH leader for having made everyone wait. This promoted Mustaine to launch into a minute-long tirade during whch he said: "You look like Eminem, you stupid cunt."

He continued: "Listen, you guys pay a lot of money to see us play, and I don't wanna stand here in the dark. I mean, part of the whole MEGADETH show is us smiling and making that connection with you."

He then once again addressed the fan directly, telling him: "Get the fuck out of here! Get this guy out of here! You blonde bitch. C'mon up here. I've got a big cock for your face. [Making kissing sounds.] Here it comes… Stick that finger right up your ass, you little f****t."

Fan-filmed video footage of Mustaine's rant can be seen below.

haha anyone posting like that on 4chan would probably be doing it ironically. Their tone is much much more vulgar and to the point.

It seems to me like most of the crowd thought it was great. The whole thing seemed off the cuff to me, like Dave just doesnt care. You can't hold entertainers to the same standards you hold politicians to, everything they say will always be THE WORST. Especially when its written down and turned into a headline as a "homophobic slur".

Why not? They're public figures, and are given a large platform to express their views. If they can't stick to performing/talking about music and insist on revealing - over and over again - what terrible human beings they are, that's on them.

And how is what Dave said anything BUT a homophobic slur?

That's because metal fans are bigots and homophobes. We had this discussion years ago and everyone got mad at me because they couldn't handle the truth.

I have no problem perse with the use of that word in general so long as it's used on someone who isn't gay or someone who wouldn't find it offensive. In many cases, that word is more synonymous these days with "asshole" than it is a derogatory and bigoted term. However, my problem with Dave is that - what if the guy in question was in fact gay - or what if there were gay people in the crowd who would take offense to the use of that word? Pretty horrible and inconsiderate if you ask me.

I really like Youthanasia, but Cryptic is just ok for me. I'm still going to check this new one out to see what the fuss is about.

Hmmm...nice words from a self described born-again Christian.

I like Dave, but I agree with you...that was just plain stupid for him to say at this point. He obviously isn't very talented in the, choosing your words correctly, department.

Wasn't an insult, but listening to the previous releases, Countdown was a big change of gears... very similar to what just happened compared to the previous 2 releases to Super Collider.

I enjoy all Megadeth albums, some way more than others. I don't even think Risk is at the bottom of the pile for me. LOL

Risk is at the bottom of the pile for everyone!
That aside, the new one does feel like 1992 all over again. But Countdown was a good album, so we get another one in the same vein, I'm digging it, although I wouldn't rank it too high in their catalog.

Honest question, and I'm not judging you. Aside from the music, what's to like?

I've simply grown up listening to his music and just turned into a fan. Plus, when the band released Youthanasia it sort of re-kindled my love for metal. There were a few years, when I was younger, I was exploring other genres of music. Years of alcohol and drug abuse has fried Dave's brain, much like Ozzy though. Honestly, if he was up on stage calling Christians distasteful names, then this thread would be Mustaine worship hour. He should've simply said, dude you're acting like an ass, lay off the alcholol, and if you don't like the show, there's the door. Instead, he's chosen to make himself look like the ass, as usual.

If he is a Christian, like he claims to be, then he sure isn't doing his witness any favors by acting like this, period. I'd tell that to his face if I had the chance.
