Where do you/the bands you work with record?
What's the whole studios 'scene' like especially for metal.
I mean, is it an easy affordable process to get a good recording done or not really?

I ask cause I'm gonna set up a kinda ghetto.. but still pretty good recording environment in the south east suburbs. I'm driven to do this basically for my own creative pursuits and entertainment, but I wonder if there's a demand for an affordable but still pretty decent tracking environment?

Where I'm coming from is, I don't really want to go all out and try to operate be a full fledged studio, but what I will do for my own satisfaction will amount to something possibly quite useful. And to be frank, I won't achieve satisfaction unless it is good. So .. it's gonna be there in some form regardless, but it might change my approach if it looks like there'd be some demand.

So anyone in the mix down there(pardon the pun), tell me about it..

Hi Benny.

I normally work out of Pony studios in Halam. It's the one place that's agreed with me so far... the guys are laid back, they have some fantastic gear (albeit average rooms, which will be rectified in the coming months) and I enjoy recording there as I know the set-up fairly well.

I think there is still a demand for a more reasonably-priced recording environment if it comes to demo projects... but anything above that, I need my neumanns, distressors, UAs, ameks and whatnot.

On the whole though it's fairly easy to get a recording done on a reasonable budget if you know which local studios to aim for. There are some with great gear and fairly reasonable prices.
