Not sure how I feel about this. Melissa is one of my favorite metal albums of all time (as is Don't Break the Oath). They rerecorded Curse of the Pharaohs and Evil for Guitar Hero. Listen to Evil below. Not bad actually, but for my money those are two records that really shouldn't be touched. Part of their quality is their somewhat eerie (if only because of recording standards) production.

Anyway, like I said, not bad, but it would be like if Venom rerecorded In League with Satan or something. That track is evil because of how it sounds.

Cool to see King Diamond animated though!

I dont disagree with you. Those first few MF releases are magical....and to this day sound awesome in their current guise. Impossible to top them. (Although this version of Evil is better than I expected.)

BUT with that said, if this new Guitar Hero stuff can help give King/MF "props", and propel to King/MF to a new generation of young rock/metal fans, I'm all for it. He/they have been woefully under-recognized for 25 years and it's time for their due.

I have the Metallica GH and the songs are actually pretty cool. King at one point said they tried to duplicate them as much as possible, including the solos. The drummer is different, so there's that...

Admittedly, I didn't get into those albums until later in the 80's, so while I love the original releases and agree about their "eerie-ness", I prefer the remastered versions from a few years back. I always thought DBTO was OK production wise, but was never that happy with Melissa.
