hi i'm considering a change of amplifier and my playing style is in a way similar to arch enemy as i frequently make weird chords as in the intro of burning angel and even on all 6 strings sometimes in drop C

so for now i have a rectifier but i find the sound to be somewhat too american if you see what i mean but still it really is loud and as lots of punch i'm quitte satisfied but i'm more of a european sound guy but not too much because i wan't a sound that's strait (i use a gate with my mesa for that and not that much gain around 8) and not muddy but still with a fat bass

so many guys said to me buy a 5150 so now it's the 6505 tell me your advice about that amp or if you find my playing style isn't for a 6505 tell me which other amp i should hear

If you've already got a Recto, then I say start tweaking the settings and give it a whirl before you start investing more money in another amp.

BTW - Back off that Gain to about a "6" or so (around 1:00) and let your pick attack do the work...

i know lots of people tell this to me but it's been four years i've got this one and 3 months ago i got my new and last guitar so i worked since but can't achieve exactely "my" song
i assure you that i know my recto since four years

"More juice" isn't necesarilly better. Make sure your amp is set to "bold" not "spongy." You should be able to get great tone from the Mesa, although it's a bit more touchy in terms of EQ than the 6505.

i have a single so no spongy switch but it's not a problem of fatness or power of sound it's the way the amp sounds it's american sound and some people advised me to get another amp beacause i prefer european sound but still hi gain

This is a very good question, as i am trying to work out which to buy myself! I've heard the clean tone isnt too great on the 5150, so it could be my swaying decision. I'll also have to play test them first of all :tickled:

well for me the clean on the mesa is great for metal if you add a really good reverb it's cold cristal clean

but for the 6505 someone told me that the clean was really better than on the 5150 but you have to work on it

but unfortunatelly being from switzerland i don't get to see allthose amplifier there aren't any music mall like in america

but engl i don't like at all and jcm800 tried many times too british not enough definition and krank are almost impossible to find here

turn the fucking gain down!! Seriously that will totally kill the dynamics, the best solution is turn the gain to like 4-5 and add a tube screamer, that will give you lots more bite.
Also learn to play heavy, it sounds really condescending but so many people turn the gain to 10 and say it's not heavy enough IMO that is purely down to technique.
