Metal 2015

Guys, how's the newest Maiden album? I didn't bother to give it a spin and I don't really know why, I only heard Speed of Light but it didn't really impress me.

It's great really. Kinda long but they graciously break it down into 2 digestible chunks. Big surprise for me.

It implies an amicable split, but there's always more to the story

Dutch death metallers HAIL OF BULLETS have parted ways with vocalist Martin Van Drunen (PESTILENCE, ASPHYX).

Said the band in a statement: "We are sorry to announce that Martin Van Drunen is no longer part of HAIL OF BULLETS. On a personal level, it's no longer possible for us to continue the cooperation with Martin. Unfortunately, this means we have to cancel all upcoming shows until further notice.

"This does not mean the end of HAIL OF BULLETS.

"The main reason for starting this band eight years ago was our mutual love for real death metal and to have fun playing our favorite kind of music and we did not want to lose this 'fun' part.

"We acknowledge the fact that Martin's a good singer with a distinctive voice but he's not the only great singer on this planet. We wish him all the best in his future career.

"To be continued…"

HAIL OF BULLETS features GOREFEST drummer Ed Warby, THANATOS guitarists Stephan Gebédi and Paul Baayens and former HOUWITSER bass player Theo van Eekelen.

HAIL OF BULLETS' third album, "III: The Rommel Chronicles", was released in October 2013 via Metal Blade Records.

Sounds like Van Druren was a douche bag and they finally couldn't take any more.

Oh hey Casette, the new Autopsy album is 28 minutes. I was right. ;)

Not at first it wasn't. It was called a new album by the band. Now suddenly it's been changed, most likely because of its length.

I don't care what people do let alone band members, but he was kicked out of Asphyx and Pestilence in the early 90's because he's a drunk, he went into the studio to lay down vocals for last one on earth and did not even know he kicked him out of the band. Regardless that's his best shit.

Le update after some other listens... Still gotta account for December though...

Akhlys (AOTY)
Mgla
Drudkh
Spectral Lore
Sulphur Aeon
Ghost
Drowning the Light
Serpents Lair
Misþyrming
Ahab

After another listen Nile was a bit of a letdown. Not bad, but not up to Nile standards.

Clutch as the honorable mention that isn't quite metal.

So I gave the new Hatchet album a listen and fuck me it's even better than their last one. One of the best Thrash albums of 2015 IMO.

Dropping off Ghost. I listened to it a few times when it came out. Gave it another listen last night and it doesnt have the staying power of the prior 2 albums. (Mummy Dust is a great track tho)

Panopticon is good, but also not top 10 worthy.

I missed it too.

Wow, it's late in the year but finally gotten around to an album that is surely going to make my top 10 list. Has anyone else heard Sarpanitum - Blessed Be My Brothers? Somehow I "forgot" about this and it sat in my collection despite all the great reviews. Killer stuff.
