Dude. You're booking two separate round trips aye?!?

You book one round trip from London to Treiste.

Then ye book another trip from Jebadiah Springfield, UT to London.

Just make sure that your focus are the tickets from London to Treiste (time wise)

Then you retain the flexibility to book a flight around the inner flight, than booking the flight to europe and being stuck with in the parameters of a certain time frame. Am I making much sense?!?!

Doing this took the flight down to roughly $1000. I'm fucking ecstatic!

Fly to London.

From London Stanstead (STN) fly direct to Ljubljiana on EASY JET for about $60 round trip. That's what I did.

The most ridiculous part is that the train journey to STN from central London costs more than the flight to LJU. :erk:

Now Trieste is not all that much closer to Tomlin/Kobarid -- probably 30 mins difference at most. Also, add in the fact that you'll be crossing the border so that could add another 30 mins if you don't have an EU passport. However, with all that said, I would be keen to see Trieste myself this time just to spend a day on the Italian beach, but you can drive there and back in one day from Tomlin/Kobarid.

This is so lovely.

Check it:

This is all in Tomlin, the town where the festival takes place. Or rather, it's called the Soca Valley.

Apparently the whole fest is very hippy like.

Nice!:headbang:

If you guys are seriously considering this, then all is dependent on $$$ for me so I'll have to wait for tax rebate time, early next year.

I'm not one for camping so I'll rough it at the hotel in Kobarid. Nice little hotel, great restaurant, and a sweet pub & beer garden across the street packed full of young travellers from Austria and Hungary and wot not.

The hotel is also kind enough to arrange taxi transport to and fro the metal camp site (for a nominal fee, of course).

We should get a headcount on hotel stayers. Here's the hotel.

broseph, you know I'm in a hotel

camping is for the plebians

I'm totally down for this. Definitely camping if I do go, why waste money on a hotel? Pansies.
If it was closer to Ljubljana I could stay with my uncle if I wanted.

Hey, Ali....can I get an estimate on how much you spent, total, for the entire trip? If you dont mind me asking....just so I can get a rough figure to expect and start putting it aside.

Ken, it's difficult to gauge because I also tied in a trip to London and stayed with my folks and used the last of my frequent flyer miles....

...but I can tell you this, based on CURRENT conversion rates:

1 week ticket pass to MC: 110 Euro ($150 US)
roundtrip flight to LJU from London Stanstead: 60 pounds ($120 USD)
food + drink for the week: $400 each (?)

SUB-TOTAL 1: $670-$700

roundtrip flight from NY/tri-state/Boston to LHR: $900 average
*this really is the biggest variable since folks are coming from all over

SUB-TOTAL 2: $1600

hotel: approx 50 Euro per night per room ($70 USD or $350 total)
rental car: approx 30 Euro per day (compact car) ($40 USD or $280 total) + gas

Each hotel room would be split across 2 people. The car would be split between 4 people for at least 7 days.

SUB-TOTAL 3: $1850

For those camping, go with SUB-TOTAL 2. Good luck carrying a tent and all that shit to the wilderness of east europe. :loco:

For those who like bed mattresses, showers, cups of coffee, and a hot breakfast, go with SUB-TOTAL 3.

So all in all, think about setting aside $2K and you should be good to go.
