STRYPER's Michael Sweet speaks out on New Songs & future Plans-

" As you all know, STRYPER reunited for the first time on almost 12 years to record 2 new songs to be released in the spring of 2003. The 2 new songs will be part of a 'Best Of' which will consist of songs chosen by the band. 'Can't Stop The Rock', which was a compilation as well, basically consisted of material chosen by the label for the most part. We were limited at that time to only put a limited number of songs on the disk. This time around there will be a total of 18 songs on the new project ( 16 old & 2 new). It will take everyone on a ride from the present to past as the sequence goes from newest to oldest. The 2 news songs are
entitled 'Something' & 'For You' and have a very modern day STRYPER sound. All the old material will be digitally re-mastered to add a little more punch where it lacks. I believe that these songs are some of the best songs that we have recorded and I think that the other guys agree. I brought in Jack Marques (Mars Hill) to sing bgv's with Oz and myself to add a different flavor to the vocals. The vocals turned out amazing! Oz did some great solo work as well!!! Blessings to all of you. Always, Michael Sweet."

RIPPER OWENS LEAVES JUDAS PRIEST:
My first prediction for 2003 has come true! Ripper Owens has left Judas Priest and the band are looking to Rob Halford to re-join for a summer re-union tour.
Here's what drummer Scott Travis told BW&BK today:
"We hope Rob rejoins the band so we can go out this summer, but part of the ball's in his court, so he's going to have to make a decision,".
BW&BK goes on to add: It remains unclear if a reunited Priest would go it alone, tour with Twisted Sister has been reported elsewhere or team up with Iron Maiden.

What the fuck?!?! Is this a joke or what? I haven't even got round to buying the albums with Ripper on 'em and he's already gone and left!

So, because of that, I can't say if I'm happy or sad about Timmy leaving...but Rob rejoining (which he has said several times he would like to)...that's quite something! Now I'll finally have a chance to see Halford-fronted Priest live! :D Though I was really looking forward to seeing Halford again...

If this is true then I am indeed a very happy lady!! I never rated Ripper.....though I did like Jugulator....maybe that's a contradiction....who knows!!! I shall await an official announcement before I get too excited though!!

I never rated Ripper.....
I, on the other hand, rated him very highly as a vocalist. But the material he was supplied with wasn't up to scratch. I don't know what's happened to Glenn Tipton's songwriting skills of late, but let's just say they're not what they once were. Still, I don't think that anyone would argue that Halford belongs back in Priest...

FALCONER and vocalist Mathias Blad have parted ways!

The reason was clashes of schedules, FALCONER wanted to give the "live activity" a serious try and take all chances they could get. The schedule Mathias´ musicals have didn´t make that easy to go through with. So the choice was to continue with him and thereby maybe not being able to tour after the next album. The second choice was to get a new singer losing a trademark of the band but being able to take the chances when they come. Cease the day, as they say.

Sorry to digress, but...I wonder what people would think if Judas Priest announced a reunion with Al Atkins? What about it, eh? :)
