Do you have this dumb thing where you have to be a "metal person" to be accepted into a metal place, like horror people have for horror movies?

Or do I just have to listen to the exact same bands as everyone else. Can someone please help me understand this.

Is there releases you have to like that no one has ever even heard to fit into this clique? If so fuck you and fuck metal.

I personally have more respect for a metalhead if they are infact not really a metalhead, but a true lover of music and art: no boundaries, and appreciate even what you don't like (except for Metallica or Hip-Hop ).

Indeed. I don't like a lot of the original rock bands (Chuck Berry and the like), but I still respect them for their influence on music.

It depends. I sometimes love a metalhead who loves a sub-genre and becomes completely immersed in it and know what's good, classic, and everything else to be known. These people are for recomendations that expand your horizon with an the sub-genre, basically allowing for you to get the best of of the sub-genre for yourself.

This site has a lot knowledgeable people on old school death metal and doom metal, two sub-genres that are often ignored in most other forums (coughmetalrulescuntscough)
