I am the only black metal fan at my highschool .

There are a few at my school, and I have a strong suspiscion that they are actually satanists. I don't know anyone besides myself and the people in my band who like Opeth or any DM or BM band.

I have one friend who likes some death metal, but he'd rather listen to nu-metal or modern rock instead.:puke:

I hate it when people say that I can't listen to metal because I'm a Christian. Ironically, I've become stronger in my beliefs since I started listening to metal.
Same here. Oh and Satanic music doesn't bother me since I really don't care about lyrics.

Haha same here man. I know what you mean.

What's the best DSO album? I've heard they're incredible I just havent gotten around to checking them out yet. In what way are their lyrics thought provoking? I love good lyrics when it's with great music.

I love DSO. Probably my favorite active band. Their best albums are Inquisitors of Satan and Kenose, with Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice being a little behind those. It tends to be a bit overrated for the most part, but still very good.

Inquisitors is rather traditional black metal, but done extremely well. The lyrics aren't up to par with the more recent material at this point, but it's definitely worth checking out.

Kenose is a ground-breaking album. Go out and buy this one. It has a 40 page booklet, so it's worth it. It's one of the most complete works of art as far as albums go. The lyrics are probably the best I've come across.

A sample:
Therefore, God honors the sword so highly
That He calls it His own ordinance, and will not have men say
Or imagine that they have invented it or instituted it
For the hand that wields this sword and slays with it is then
No more man's hand, but God's, and it is not man,
But God, who hangs, tortures, beheads, slays and fights
All these are His work and His judgments...
Plerosis, answering the strident call of felony,
Filling the void of purity gone instantly...

Instigating manifold quadrants of industrialized death,
An avid Moloch, never satiated, an endless Feast,
Following the principle of reversibility of merits, shattering up the Word
As Pillars of grayish Soulfire spurt out to a bereaved firmament
... I am the son of Man, and this in erring reason's spite, is my pride...
War, be enthroned, a form of divine retribution!
Execution,
Be sacred, agent of divine Providence!

Man, lost somewhere between the restrictive force
Of Cain and the expansive force of Abel,
Falls from his median position between Angel and Beast
Each time he ceases to desire a being superior to himself
Adam's descent into materiality,
May it be questioned...
The separating line between the Saved and the Damned,
May it be questioned...

If there is to be a multiplicity of forms, can one thing be worse
Unless another is better, or one be better unless another is worse...
Those who would eliminate the worse from the universe would eliminate
Providence itself
Interrogate the patterns of the prophetic mode,
Perceive the two faces of the Divine
And shed the just, divine retribution
Quantified, a suppurating cross, alike in blood and scoria

off topic: does anybody burn the herb or just me? If so what do you listen to when you do? :Smokin:

I burn the herb. Toke and smoke and choke. But I should really stop.

I listen to Agalloch, Opeth, Rain fell Within, Dream Theater

and especially....

:kickass: :headbang: Opeth - Morningrise

Everyone I have come across likes ozzy. I have born again christian aunts/relatives that use to listen to ozzy, relatives I did not even know listened to music that have ozzy cds hanging around. weird

i've got a group of about 10 friends that are heavily into metal. most of them are just into death and thrash, one is heavily into black metal and i prefer black metal and goregrind stuff.

I'm a catholic and no one has told me what I can listen to or not or should listen too. This seems to be a christian thing, then again i'm non practicing catholic.

Christians and Pilgrims seem shut out anything that has to do with rock % roll and majority of music in general. very narrow

same.

Catholics are super misunderstood. I was brought up that way, even though I don't practice anymore. They're generally nice, normal people. Probably way less likely to throw a fit about music than other groups.
