Metalcore

Anyone heard the song 'Destructioneer Extraodinaire', by Trap Them? Good song.

Trap Them are fucking awesome.

You gave me a good laugh, sir. *Salute*

I've been all about Fuck the Facts, From a Second Story Window, Glass Casket, The Human Abstract, Harlots and the really old Underoath lately.

I've always thought The Human Abstract had talent, but just couldn't get it together and write actual music. I have high hopes for their new album, but the new song they just put up on their Myspace is started to drown all chances of it being any good. Fuck The Facts, Glass Casket, FASSW and Harlots are great though.
I'd also recommend From Here On's Hope For a Bleeding Sky which features BTBAM's vocalist before he was in BTBAM...definitely a must-have metalcore album.

I'll have to check out From Here On then, sounds killer. I have to disagree on your Human Abstract opinion. I personally love their style and their use of scales and ideas not dealt with very often, even in metal. They have some really cool ideas. I do agree on your opinion of their new song though. I only got halfway through it before getting bored and turning that shit off. The singer sounds like the singer from Avenged Sevenfold now, and AX7's singer is fucking terrible.

Could someone explain to me where the hell they get this post-hardcore bullshit? maybe i missed the part where there was something called hardcore metal? but i doubt it. if they mean hardcore punk then i would tell them that they have (exactly) dick clue what they are talking about. But whatever. Is there something im missing? Because post hardcore seems to be a code word for not quite crappy enough to be mainstreem (but working on it) and no where near good enough to fall into the extreme metal category. Thats about right isnt it?

Post-hardcore evolved as a subgenre of hardcore, and usually takes a more experimental approach by including elements from other genres. For instance, a lot of post-hardcore bands like At The Drive-In, Thrice, Sparta, etc. take a lot of their influence from the emo movement.

I think you misunderstood me. I like their style - with how they use classical scales and melodies to give themselves a more distinctive sound.
The only thing I dislike is that a lot of it is overdone...I mean come on, Mea Culpa starts out a great song until the sweeps continue for half the fucking song lol.
There were a few good songs, but the only song I thought really stood out was Nocturne. Especially the clean guitar part in that song is incredible imo.

i expected THA to be better than their new song shows. with all that talent you'd think they'd find it common sense to write some really epic fucking songs. nocturne was a pretty good cd, alot of repetition but alot of cool parts to it, theyre good to listen too once in a great while. i have a love/hate relationship with the vocals. i love his choral/melodic parts but during his verses i'd rather hear him scream or something than alot of the shit he does.

If interested in post-hardcore, in addition to ATDI, check out the big names like Fugazi, Rites of Spring, and Drive Like Jehu, although many of those bands veer dangerously close to screamo.

Now...best breakdowns! :p

Maroon - Wake Up In Hell
Maroon - The World's Havoc
Maroon - Confessions of the Heretic (let's face it, Maroon has the best breakdowns)
Neaera - Let the Tempest Come
7 Angels 7 Plagues - Someday
Parkway Drive - Boneyard (but I guess the whole song is pretty breakdown-based)

Parkway Drive - Romance is Dead (SO CRY ME A FUCKING RIVER BITCH!) has to be the best one ever.
As Blood Runs Black - In Dying Days
As Blood Runs Black - My Fears Have Become Phobias
Born Of Osiris - Bow Down
Winds of Plague - Anthems of the Apocalypse
Waking the Cadaver - Bloodspattered Satisfaction
Suicide Silence - No Pity for a Coward
