Am I the only that doesn't like metallica? It seems everyone that enjoys metal has a thing for Metallica. Is the cool name? eh.... The singer's voice sickens me.

Perhaps because some of us were into Metallica when they were still good, as opposed to people who discovered them with Load and later albums.

Metallica is an entry level band, and RTL and MOP were among the first metal albums many people had. I can imagine that people who were into extreme metal for a while and then heard their back catalogue would be underwhelmed because of all of the hype.

there's nothing wrong about loving 83/88 Metallica..
then the Black Album, Load & Reload have their moments too (I still think that they should have kept the best of the Load & Reload and that it would have made an awesome album !)
... but. Metallica vs Napster, St Anger and generally Lars Ulrich's attitude have kinda spoiled it for me...

Have you guys seen some kind of monster when kirk talks about how the trend now a days is not to have solo's and he thinks that bull shit... and he wants to put something in there but not play traditional solo's..... and then the album and nothing and it went with the trend.... Kirk and James need more power in the band....

James,Kirk were not up for the album but were manipulation by Lars,Bob Rock, the old councilor the entire time. So many times James looked really down on the whole thing, had reason too. They still got him to do it somehow by convincing him to prove them wrong or that he was preventing himself out of fear. It was like brainwash, reverse psychology to get james to believe he was the problem when it really was not. I don't think it was a money reason for james,kirk but for Bob Rock,lars. Being put in that situation they probably just said fuck it, lets just do it. Lars was so overbearing I remember at point he was/almost hinting as if you don't do this album i'll find a replacement, directing towards james.
The entire situation was mind boggling. They could not even as four guys just write together,say what they want with the music,direction without bob rock,a counciler there always. It was always planned out. No spontaneous writing going on or opinions. If james,kirk, said an opinion the old fuck would say how they were thinking wrong,etc.... It's like lars talked it over with Bob,the councilor on how the album was going to be. Said fuck you james,kirk, do it this way or leave, i've replace you both!. I'm going to fuck my wife tonight,buy a big bottle of expensive wine, you're all puppets!!!
