I second Orphaned Land and their new CD is supposed to be out later this year (finally).
I tried Amaseffer, but could not get into it at all. I have heard great things about Melechesh. They are on my list of bands to check out.

I love Eastern and Middle Eastern sounding music, so I do what I can to populate my playlist with as much of it as possible. Unfortunately, I'm at home right now and we have 18k, so I'm stuck unable to check out any of the recommendations in this thread. I'm also using my parents' computer at the moment, so I can't really make many recommendations from my own playlist, either. This is just a short list off the top of my head.

Geography:
- Acrassicauda (Thrash Metal, Iraq)
- Arallu (Thrash Metal, Israel)

Sound:
- Prince of Persia: Sands of Time - Original Video Game Soundtrack
- Nile (Egyptian Death Metal, USA)
- Therion (Symphonic Metal, Sweden)

I watched the documentary for this band. Cool movie, bland band.

I watched it too. Yeah, that band is pretty terrible.

Is this band worth listening to? Their name has always annoyed me.

As in.

hey brah! whatcha listening to? Darkestrah, sweet brah! Get me a Coors Lite and we can listen to the Darkestrah, together brahh!!

Of course it's worth it. Check out Embrace of Memory.
