Hey dudes, the ONE nice piece of gear mounted on a rack that my school's primary studio has (besides the 192 i/o, of course) is this Millennia HV-3D 4 channel pre. I was wondering what you all thought of it, and how it stacks up to the stock pres in a Control 24 (the only other preamp option in there). I'm gonna be tracking a song of my band's for a class project there soon, so any idiosyncrasies that either of them have for rhythm guitars/drums/screams/etc. would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've never used the control 24 pre's before, but I have used the HV-3D many of times(the 8 channel version). All I remember is that it was very transparent..which I thought sounded great on Overhead's, Hi-hats, and/or room mics. I don't know if the pre's in the control 24 are colored at all but you might want to really just try both on the same source and see which one you like the best.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING
.
no seriously.
its clean, but uninspiring. but better than the digi pres. good on orchestral stuff, and sometimes overheads.
