I dig the vocals! though the mixes with the voxs aren't very good yet!Sly said:HEY ALL !
We just recorded the vocals today.
Here are the files :
http://mixcontest.flatnet.net/vocal tracks/
There are two singers, Lio doing the clean vocal tracks and death grunts, and Roms doing the high-pitched black metal "typed" voices.
As they "sing" into different tonal registers, there are 5 vocal tracks for Lio, and only 2 for Roms.
We used the following :
C414 XL2 into an API 512c pre for Lio's death big vocals, and 1176 clone compressor.
C414 XL2 into a Pacifica pre for Lio's clean vocals and also for the moshparts vocals (no comp)
RE20 into the Pacifica for Roms voices (no comp)
I hope you'll enjoy the vocals. It wasn't very easy to record the vocals because it's kind of strange when you hear those voices unprocessed. Also their english is far from perfect so be indulgent jummpp lol
You can mix the vocals the way you want them to be, you have to know we sometimes tracked them two times for you to use a lot the panoramics.
Let your imagination do its job, and try things !
Continue to post your mixes, they sound amazing !
You can also download drum samples from the session, that I recorded just before to play the song :
http://mixcontest.flatnet.net/drum samples/
You can mix them with the original mic tracks !!! thumbsup
Keep on mixing guys, that's HUUUUUGE

The vocal tracks will probably be ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT thing that will decide us to choose one mix or the other.
Like said on Gearslutz, there are not a real "lead voice", so you can play with pans, reverbs, echoes, delays, compression, distorsion, EQ...
We want the voice not to be too much forward the instruments, we prefer them to be "in" the mix. You can mult the voice tracks and pan them all around, and apply some different treatments etc.
This thread and the one on Gearslutz are very interesting, and it's very pleasant to see people liking the song, and doing something personal with it.
I can't listen to the mixes posted recently now, but I'll do it tonight and will write some feedback here and GS.
xmarcelx : No tubescreamer in here. The splitter was the tuner of one guitarist, going straight into an A-Designs Pacifica pre (which is the most transparent pre we have). We didn't have a better splitter. It seems it worked quite good. I didn't notice distortion on the clean tracks, or maybe the mic pre adds a little colour to it...
The tuning is bad because of the fukking Stef's guitar. I'm very sorry about that
Sounds like there is some clipping on the track... weird ... I have to listen to it again!Sly said:xmarcelx : No tubescreamer in here.
