i just decided to start to get serious and relearn recording (not that i knew too much to begin with) but i need some help on just getting a good overall sound. check out this mix and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give my any advice you think that i need. im looking for a verbal raping. thanksss

what mics
what amps
what daw
what mic position

it seems like you need some filtering/eq

i have a tascam us-122, cubase sx3, ezdrummer, amplitube metal, ampeg svx. basically nothing is real (i went for the sturgis style). that could be my problem? and what would you suggest filtering/eq?

well personally
i own amplitube metal
and its good if you just want to hack around and jam
but for recording
it sucks
your better off getting some amp sims.
if you have Pc.

then your in luck

and going for a "sturgis" style isnt bad
no way of recording is bad or wrong, but people will snicker at you if you dont
do shit how its done in the books lol

as for EQ and filtering goes
put up some stems and ill do an example for you and post pictures if u like

for those ampsims do you usually combine them or just use one at a time? and im sorry this is gonna make me seem retarded but what do you mean by "stems"? haha sorry im new at this. thank you for all your help though seriously!

stems are the raw files
or rendered files of each track
like ...i.e: hey tim, im gunna send you a stem of my guitar track

you just use one for each guitar track

the drums sound good but..
not with these guitars.
if you have the dry dry tracks
send them to me aswell
