I've got to mix and master a track for a compilation album and I'm borrowing some gear to help me out. Right now I'm getting some Mackie HR824 monitors, a MOTU 896HD, a TC Electronics System 6000 for verbs/delays, Empirical Labs Distressor, TC Electronics Finalizer and a Manley Massive Passive.

I intend to use AES/EBU to/from the 896 to the System 6000, XLR to/from the Distressor and MP and ADAT to the Finalizer. Anyone see any possible problems with this set-up? Is there something I'm missing? Is the MP overkill with all the features of the Finalizer?

I personally would never use the Distressor on the 2-Bus. Much too strong for that, in my experience. As far as having the Massive Passive there, I'd highly recommend it. Try to do whatever eqing you're going to do with that instead of altering the tone too much with the Finalizer. The MP will add a nice color to the mix, and sound a lot better than anything in the Finalizer.
