I really don't agree about the "heavy metal sound all the time" thing NFU... Most of their heavier parts (especially on verisakeet, besides maybe the first song that goes into a almost black metal section around the middle) are pretty slow and melodic, they have tons of clean vocals, and they have some extremely beautiful folk moments in there. I'm not gonna convince you to like them but it just seems like you're not giving them a fair chance. Oh well ^_^

i was disappointed with Verisäeket. i prefer Kivenkantaja much more, esp. the opener 'Rauniolla'. but i agree, they can get a bit cheesy sometimes with their keyboard overload.

theres nothing wrong with metal. some of my favorite bands are metal bands. but the fact that people spend this much time trying to convince me that a band as boring and generic and standard as "moonsorrow" is just absolutely sad and unfortunate. it just shows ignorance in its rawest/truest sense.

theres too much of everything really. the good to bad band ratio at this point is close to 1 out of 100 id say.

I can't recall hearing much double bass in any of their songs, save for a few moments here and there. And they are barely "agressive" !! Are you sure you weren't listening to their really early black metal-esque stuff (basically Emperor worship)? And PLEASE don't even fucking give me (although I know you weren't singling me out) that "there is more stuff out there than swedish/finish/melo-death" crap. You really have no idea the wide variety of bands I listen to, but I guess I only talk about a kinda narrow group on here, cause most people on this board couldn't give a crap about the others (the Red Sparowes thread I made is a perfect example).
And by fair chance, I guess I should have said a fair description actually. I normally wouldn't argue with you about bands but I just really don't see the comparisons you're making about their sound. But don't bother explaining anymore, I'm bored of this

you really need to pay attention. i wasnt making comparisons about their sound. i was saying what the heavy metal sound can encapsulate. not that every band who is metal has double bass, and a lot of aggression etc. what i WAS saying though, is that moonsorrow is indeed just another metal band. theres nothing about them that makes me want to listen to them over something better when i do feel the need to listen to some heavy metal music.
