Morbid Angel - Illud Divinum Insanus new album discussion.

I do not like that song and everytime I listen to it I like it less than I did the last time. The riffs are pretty uninteresting, the fucking vocal patterns sound way too "catchy" (listen to how closely they mirror the rhythmic patterns of the music; sounds pretty fucking corny to these ears. Come on, this is supposed to be death metal ffs!!) Annoying typewriter drumming. Whether or not you like Pete Sandoval's drumming, you have to admit that he sounds like fucking Pete Sandoval. This just sounds like any other generic modern death metal drumming. And yes, there is a bit of a resemblance to Behemoth here. Fail.

Just had a listen to a sample of that remix on Amazon - fucking atrocious. Can't believe i preordered the Nevermore 7" without listening to this first. Still looking forward to the classic MA tunes on the album.

I think the song is pretty dull. The main riff sounds like something I myself would write while trying to sound obscure and unpredictable. Moreover, double bass pedals once again prove to be an escape for drummers who have run out of imagination or drive to really add something to the rest of the music.

Lets remember that MA is one of those bands that were always quite good at adding tracks tot heir albums that werent really any good or served any purpose. The best example would be "formulas fatal to the flesh" I think. Its great when they do their thing but they also have about 5 interludes/instrumental/ambient tracks. Also placed out in the tracklist in a way that doesnt enhance anything.

I do like some breather tracks on extreme metal albums but I have to say, as good of a death metal band MA is or was, they never incorporated this stuff very good into their albums.

I like the vocals on that new one, but the riffs aren't memorable at all, and the drumming (someone described it, perfectly as "typewriter") is boring.
Maybe it's just a bad first mix though, if the kick drum was down in the mix and the guitars were up it would sound a LOT better.
The solo is pure Trey, very, very cool, but not a show stopper.
I'm comparing this to the latest Deicide ones, and Morbid Angel just sound tired, treading water, and don't have a Ralph Santolla to take them above the rest of the stuff out there just now.

Overall, that song doesn't compare in ANY way to Altars, Blessed or Domination.

here's a stream of the studio version of Nevermore:

i'm starting to wonder if every song on this album is going to have a chorus where they just scream the song title. "Nevermooooooorrreee!" or "Vulgoooooooorreee!".

just think of all the wonderful chorus' this album will offer. "Too extreeeeeeeeeme!" or how about "Radikuuuuuuuuuuuult!" or maybe "10 more deeeeeeeaaaaad!"

oh yea, you can listen to a sample of all the songs on amazon here: [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Illud-Divinum-Insanus-Morbid-Angel/dp/B004VUP8WK[/ame] check out the preview of the song Radikult. i think Marilyn Manson was in studio and took over songwriting that day. :puke:

it's hard to judge an album by samples, but some of these sound pretty bad, to be honest.

even from the samples, i'd say my least favorite track could be "I am Morbid." still, i'd buy it.

oh i'm still going to be checking it out, definately. it's just the more that i hear from this album the more it drops on my "want" list. especially with the new Autopsy coming out in a few weeks, which from the two songs that are on youtube, it's going to blow Morbid Angel out of the water.

Amazon.com samples.

Well, after hearing some samples on Amazon i'm looking forward to it. I predict there will be 5 - 6 good/great songs, and a couple of trashy experimental ones that i can skip. While not ideal, 5 - 6 new quality MA tracks are better than none!

Even more samples. I'm not too pleased with what I'm hearing.

^ Yeah, I just listened to those and I just have to say that this shit is fucking horrible. Absolutely awful and embarrassing. This is probably going to end up being the worst album of the year. If you buy this album, you're an idiot. Fuck you!
