hi guys, sorry, but its another of those "i need help" threads from me.

the band have been offered a slot playing at the sxsw festival in austin texas in march.
can anyone tell me what its all about-any of you oldschoolers ever been there?
seems like a real mix of different stuff, judgeing by the website/info i've got already.
any experiences you guys might have had would be tres helpful :D

basically,we gotta decide on whether its right to accept and go play or not.

if we do,gonna have to try and organise a few other gigs in that(rather vast)area to make it more worthwhile!so any other suggestions would be cool too!!

thanks fellas-i know i can count on you guys to help me on this, cause you always do :D

Of course I dunno about the American stuff. But do you guys have some kind of promo package? I know the organisers of Graspop in Belgium, Verrrry big metal festival !! And just a fart away from UK :) It's a 3-day festival that attracts about 80.000 people.

graspop would be awsome carnut-please pm me a mail address, and i'll get one over to you straight away.i live in ramsgate, theres a ferry to zebrugge down the road-practically a day trip for us to do it!!cool.

thank you very much sir!!!

SXSW is a major music fest Baldy, however I don't think it's very metal friendly. All kinds of bands play it every year. Most of the bars in Austin are in on it, so each night there are a bunch of bands playing at different bars. People just buy passes that get them in to any of the bars. I've never been to it but it is a MAJOR deal here in the States these days. I think they have 2 of them each year. I think there are literally hundreds of bands there.

I agree with Greeno these event are great for new bands, but metal isn't well recieved. Even if the bands are great. I have been to North by North West once & it's just like Greeno says, a bunch of people getting loaded that can't recall who or what they saw the previous evening... I thought it was okay, but
to me it seemed like most were there to get "faced" rather than checking out good music...

hmmm-we were looking at it as an "experience"-the gig we'll be doing is with 3 other metal bands from the uk,viking skull, biomechanical(one of hawks faves)and pdhm.

i was hoping to organise a few more gigs whilewe were out there, certainly houston and afew other places near(ish)-damn your country is so big!!.

guess we'll just have to wait n see what happens!

In that case I would say do it! If for no other reason than to have a good time. :) I just wanted to warn you that SxSW is not a metal fest. I wish you could make it to the East Coast, would love to see you guys play, and meet in person!

that would be way cool greeno-it all depends on what ends up being organised.its difficult for bands like us(ones with no distribution in the states)to get gigs over there, but things have a way of working out.

trust me,you'll get to see us at some point, and if i remember,i'll bring that sorb stuff for plan 13 i promised you ages ago!!
