More Drop-A stuff

I always love your mixes but I've got to say this guitar tone really isn't doing it for me.

Sounds sweet, though the guitars are too undergained for my tastes (mainly evident on the palm mutes around when the vox come in, I'd just like a bit more saturation and sustain - tonally though they're awesome!)

yeah the gain was below 2 on this (5150). Almost re-amped with more but I guess I like the cleaner sound... or maybe just because I don't like reamping!

nothing special bass-wise... DI with sansamp plugin, and then a distorted track with the Dirty Rat pedal.
Troy Glessner mastered this and really helped pin the bass where it needed to be.

whoa undergain!

it's not too obvious until the vocals come in, after that i just can't get over it..!

aside from that, the mix is really good, ultra tight, which i love

but i really can't get over that undergain :(

thanks,

for the amp... always in the same ballpark. low around 6 or 7, mid around 2, hi around 7, reso 7 or 8, presence 8 or 9. Maxon OD808 infront as well.
in the mix i don't think there was any eq, except maybe a low shelf cutting a dB or two around 100hz.

besides the undergained guitars I realy like the mix!!!
I wish the gain would had be on 3 or 4....but this would also compromise the ultra-über-tightness ;)

great work
but to be honest, I didnt expect less from you

Haven't been commenting on this board very long, but this is probably the most impressive mix I've heard on this forum so far. I really don't understand the comments about the guitars being undergained though. As they are right now, you don't even need a nutcracker to crack walnuts. Just put a few in your hands, and get them close to your speakers. That's how crushing the guitars are.

The sound of the snare is too low in pitch though. Would have cut through better with a different tuning.

This tracks does absolutely nothing for me however. To my ears, it has no musicality at all, it's just an exercise in chunk-chunkiness, but credit where credit is due: The mix does sound wicked.

Are you planning on re-reamping with a bit more gain? I think it sounds fine now but I am sure some of us on here, judging from posts, would enjoy hearing with it up a few notches.

Good stuff nonetheless.

nope this is done, mastered, ready to be released. this mix is a couple months old, i just don't post anything on here until the band releases it first.
