you know, working with vsti is fun and you can change the sound and get what you want without retracking and edit midi notes and all that stuff but....

you loose that vintage character of the microphones

so is there any way to make a vst sound more vintage?

(well it doesn't make any sense but whatever!)

well atleast i tried to explain what i would like to say.

one idea is while the vsti plays mic your speakers and then add it in the mix in a lower volume with some verb.

Specifically which vsti? there's stuff that you can do to make stuff sound more natural, .example. there's a LOT of difference between a default sd2.0 sound and one that you've achieved shaping each individual body, humanized, automated, etc, and after that, some saturation (tube or tape, you choose) blends the whole thing a lot better.

Sometimes when i get the 'cold digital' feeling too much on something, i just slap some saturation and warm the mid-low end. Normally. Of course, if the sound being treated asks desperately for it. And of course there's nothing compared to the real thing, but that doesn't take away the fact that you can do awesome stuff digitally.

my 2c!
