Most depressing/gloomy Opeth song?

Yeah, when I first heard "Dirge for November", I thought that it would be a song I could chill out to, but then they had to ruin it. :(

well i'd have to say all of morningrise when you know the context of the lyrics (Mikael's girlfriend of 3 years did the dirty with another guy), and that itself hits an emotional chord with me:cry:

To bid you farewell
Dirge for november
Credence
and even April Ethereal...i know this doesn't sound sad,but it gives me gloomy feelings...

Demon of the fall ( if you accept my theory that the whole song is just a incredible close to godlike way to build up the song to the point of the emotional breakdown near the end of the song )

Credence comes in a close second

I didn't know that, Katatonic. I always knew the whole album was about the same girl but a could never figure out who. I say Black Rose Immortal is the saddest song, though.

Fools indeed. That song is great. It goes great with the lyrics, especially if you interpret the song as a suicide. It's perhaps the Opeth song with the most straightforward lyrics.
I suppose the upcoming "light" Opeth CD will please those who say such things about Dirge For November...

Dirge for November kinda makes me angry in the middle where it goes heavy. I'd say second half of Blackwater Park and To Bid You Farewell.

1) The Night and the Silent Water
2) To Bid You Farewell
3) Dirge For November

This would have been a good poll. No? Or are we all polled-out?

I stand motionless,
In a parade of falling rain.
