Most Depressing/Saddest Songs Thread:

Warning - How Could This Happen?

It almost puts me to tears when he sings "I Love You!" in a disgruntled voice.

What a great thread!
I love sad / depressing songs....
I honestly don't know more than half of the names you guys dropped, but I will make sure to check them out... Is there a website I can download those songs from? Or maybe one of you will be nice enough to load it to some server so yours trully would be able to download them? :D:D:D

ok, this thread needs some NICK DRAKE!

This guy's music (along with the story of his short life!) is pretty depressing stuff. I don't know if I could pick a track as I first heard him this morning, but for the sake of... something, I'll pick "Pink Moon"

AMEN to that.

Ill list some shit in a bit with samples.

Elliot Smith was some really depressing songs. Kid A, I find depressing as fuck, but that probably has A LOT to do with the certain time I was listening to the album a lot.

'nother one (which I don't expect to get too many AMENs around here unless Gugs comes back again!)

Death Cab for Cutie - I Will Follow You into the Dark.

Fucking fuckdamn. That one brings a tear to my eye, and the rest of the album ("Plans") isn't far behind!

Mogwai - Hunted by a Freak

This clip depressed the hell out of me the first time I saw it.

What the fuck is up with that Mogwai clip? That's the most depressing thing I've seen in ages.

See, someone needs to make a sequel video where a bunch of people hunt down that fat honky inbred and force his hands into a blender.

Indeed. Except the song to accompany it would have to be death metal.

Current 93 - All the pretty little horses (reprise version w/ Nick Cave)

I like some of Nick Cave's albums (+ badseeds), but on this particular track it sounds like... lounge music vocals (???) and really doesn't fit well with it. Plus, the piece sounds more eerie than sad, to me anyway.

How about... "The Bloodbells Chime" by C93?

That's one of the first things that came to my mind when I read the thread. My personal favorite is "Day is Done" off of Five Leaves Left, but most of the songs on that are depressing.
