I think this would be a good place to start this thread.. I listen to a lot of depressing music, trying to pick the saddest song would be hard for me.

Right now I'm thinking For My Fallen Angel by My Dying Bride is one of the most heart wrenching songs I've ever heard...

Quiet World is up there with the saddest for me. My Wine in Silence by My Dying Bride is very sad..
The saddest song right now however must be Burden by Opeth.

Also, check out "Stairs of Fire" from the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack.

katatonia-day
opeth-a fair judjement
my dying bride-black god
blackfield-end of the world
muse-unitented
portishead-hunter
bright eyes-a poetic retelling of an unfortunate seduction

there are still too many songs..

Blackfield - Lullaby
Katatonia - Gone & Quiet World & Gates of Bereavement
Opeth - Hope Leaves & A Fair Judgement & Face of Melinda
Johnny Cash - Hurt

and many many others, those just jumped to my mind right now. If I would have to choose one from those it would probably me Gone by Katatonia.

The Cure and the album Disintegration is pretty damn depressing. Also, Pornography is pretty dark and bleak. Ah, I love them both.

Dream Theater - Space Dye Vest
Green Carnation - The Burden Is Mine.. Alone
Katatonia - Nowhere
Katatonia - Quiet World
Mourning Beloveth - Narcissistic Funeral
Opeth - Hope Leaves
Paradise Lost - Forever Failure
Rapture - This Is Where I Am
Rapture - To Forget

Edit:
oh shit I forgot Anathema :(

Deep
Lost Control
One Last Goodbye

Johnny Cash - Hurt

There's lots of songs from Katatonia, Anathema and so on that's full of melancholy but Johnny Cash's Hurt is the saddest. There's just something so touching in old man singing such a sad song full of memories close to end of his days.

the song mentioned by op is actually (imo) so depressing i cant understand why anyone would ever willingly listen to it

October Tide- Losing Tommorow
Katatonia- Quiet World, Deadhouse, Gone, Sulfur... so many songs from BMD-LFDGD era.
Anathema- TEMPORARY PEACE... holy shit. Probably gets my vote for most beautiful song ever. Also: Inner Silence, Fragile Dreams, Radiance,
Slowdive- Catch the Breeze, Country Rain, She Calls, Melon Yellow.
Porcupine Tree- Trains, A Smart Kid, Stop Swimming, Fadeaway.

So many more...
