The only Christian metal bands I tolerate are Stryper, Whitecross, and Zao. Too many of them strike me as generic and pretentious.
Many of them are, and alot of them rip-off of the non-christian 'greats'.

Still, some, like Lengsel, are amazing, imho.

Mgla's members were/are in Kriegsmachine. They apparently have a full-length coming out in 2007, according to m-a. If you like no-frills black metal done very well, definitely check them out. Crushing the Holy Trinity is a very good compilation all the way around, really.

One of the guys from Clad in Darkness lives a few blocks away from me. We jammed one time. He used to post on UM, but I don't remember what his ID was. When/if I have enough material to play live shows, I'll probably try to enlist his duties.

BLACK SABBATH SAINT VITUS TROUBLE PLACE OF SKULLS PENTAGRAM PALE DIVINE ETC ETC
I know Black Sabbath have some Christian leanings in there, but I didn't know they were officially considered Christian metal.

As I said in some other thread, I think Deicide is a pretty good Christian metal band. And no, I'm not joking. And no, I'm not retarded. If you don't get my point, then you need to learn more about Catholicism.
I don't understand. Please explain.

There's no such thing as "Christian Metal." Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. None of those bands really "preach," but they all have lyrical references and are all Christian (or at least some of the members).

Well, I know it's not an actual genre of metal. But if we considered every band with Christian members a Christian metal band, that would actually be quite a lot. I think even Dark Angel has some Christian members.

Please tell me they didn't select that name thinking it was a seriously good one. Unless they play grind, of course.

close, they play actual noisecore similar to early Anal Cunt.

Not listening to christian metal simply because it's christian is just as stupid as a christian not listening to non-christian metal because it's non-christian.

Please, judge on talent, not ideology.
I totally disagree. I don't see how you could tell someone to listen to music that is against their own beleifs. I would find it very strange for someone who is Christian to listen to Dark Funeral or something everyday, just as it would be strange for someone who is a supposed "Satanist" to listen to Christian Rock. Also I find it pretty mindblowing how someone could ONLY judge music by "talent", if thats the only basis of judging music, than why not do away with the whole metal genre then. And we could all listen to Steve Vai, or Classical Music, or Opera... Than we could get rid of the "metal" genre and only listen to mindnumbing music made by only the most talented musicians regardless of what message they are trying to convey.

It is perfectly acceptable to listen to music based on ideology, or principles, AS WELL as talent, or technical skill. That is why everyone has their own tastes in music.
