just wondered if anybody had experience with either...I don't see any reviews over at harmony-central but I narrowed it down to the motu ultralite or the mbox 2 pro, (both are around $500-600) + both are firewire for my new mac....any feedback?

I used to own the original mbox and I now own the ultralite, and I love the ultralite! I've had zero problems with the ultralite, and I did have some problems with my mbox and had to send it back to digidesign. I have not used the mbox2 pro, but how many ins and outs does it have? The ultralite has a ton of them, so with extra preamps you can record a drumset no prob. The preamps on the ultralite are pretty solid as well. Oh, and I'm using Logic
Express 7.2, and they work together perfectly.

nice...thanks for the feedback all, think i'm going with the ultralite just for the amount of in's/outs it has... now I have to decide on a pair of studio monitors.

I would have recommended the UltraLite if your mind wasn't made up, but I'll just add as a side note that while it has worked flawlessly with DP, trying to use it in Windows XP with any DAW has been a total catastrophe. Its either due to the MOTU Windows firewire drivers (my guess) or some kind of weird issue with the actual firewire interface on my MacBook Pro and its Windows drivers.
