does anyone know what songs the cover bands will be playing? i know that avril will be playing fuel(found this out on mtv2, ian robbinson said, after avril was complaining about the singing style of her song, good thing you didnt get orian or call of ktulu, those are hard) she got fuel. man i want to see some goddamn old school tallica on tuesday, also, does anyone knwo why the chat room is shut down on metallica.com?

Metallica might be "sell out"... but its still metal. Its not pop, grunge, blues, tecno, folk... ITS METAL. It might not be the BEST metal of all times, but the trouth is that without metallica, we would not have what we got today in "hard" music. (Dark tranquility, In Flames, Nevermore....)

Correction: Metallica WAS Metal. Load and Re-Load are HARD ROCK. NOT METAL. Maybe their new album will be metal, saying load and Re-Load are metal albums is just laughable.
Now in regards to them selling out, they didn't sell out until recently, in my opinion. Their last two albums were just shifts in direction, bands do it all the time, but when they toured with System Of A Down, Korn and Kid Rock a couple years back, then sued their fans, THEN announced tour plans with Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, The Def Tones and Mudvayne (and they were trying to get Eminem to sign on as well, but he declined,) that's when i believe they sold out.

Limp Bizkit plays Sanitarium
Korn plays a little bit of One
Sum 41 plays a medley of bellz, Sandman, Puppets
Staind plays NEM
Metallica played a medley of Hit The Lights, Sandman, Blackened, Creeping Death, Battery and they played Frantic (off ST. Anger) as the last song.

I've lost a lot of faith in Metallica over the years. I still have most of their stuff but the recent albums just collect dust. I watched Icon because of the hype with St. Anger but leave it to MTV to fuck everything up. Why roll the credits and cut the new song a minute and a half into it? Fucking lame. The song sounded okay, I guess. Kinda sounded like Lars was having trouble keeping up (especially during Blackened) but the new stuff definately sounds heavier than Load and Reload so there's a small amount of hope. Snoop Dogg absolutely sucked and although Korn and Limp Bizkit did decent versions, I still hate those bands like no other. Avril did a pretty good job too and whoever that "comedian" was blew chunks. A decent tribute to Metallica but after waiting an hour and a half for the new song and having it cut way short, I'm a bit pissed and feel I could have done better with my time by surfing porn and searching out new bands.

At least they're not slowing the older shit down anymore (They've been doing that since Load), so that's a plus, especially if you're gonna go see them live. And I thought the new One sounded pretty cool, from what I saw of it.

Does anyone else think Lars has taken Drum lessons since They did S&M?

I got home from work & turned on the TV onlt to see Limp Bisquick Butcher Sanitarium... I luckly missed most of the ass kissing by the "pop" stars. What I found sickening was that Sean Penn that American Poster boy for treason was the asshole that got the honor of inroducing Metallica$h.... So was the show as crappy as it appeared on paper?! I must admit the Medley was "good." Was it just me or did Trujillo not really look like he fit in the band? Bouncing around like a god damn monkey 'n shit....:p

Surprisingly(or not) Sum 41 had the best performance of the night, next to Metallica themselves, of course. they did a medley of For Whom the Bell tolls, Enter Sandman, and Master of Puppets, and their guitarist actually did a pretty good job on the solo for Puppets. That and Metallica were pretty much the highlights of the night.

Cant anyone give me a description of the song, since i dont trust the fans from the official metallica forum.
Is it Heavy, fast? Metal, Hardcore?

Pretty cool main riff. And there's even a part with the classic machine gun riff over the lyrics 'My life style determines my death style'. Also a little bit of melody in there too.

I like the song.
